77,500 learning hours! This was during the 6th edition of our annual Global Learning Week at Standard Chartered. What started out in 2019 as a series of bank-wide sessions to engage colleagues on skill building, has today become one of our most anticipated events of the year. I am super proud of how we have over the years increasingly embedded a learning habit across the organisation. But even more proud of our efforts now to direct learning opportunities towards not just building future-focused skills, but also helping our workforce consider how they might reskill into new opportunities and increase their long-term employability. This is why we have also continued to evolve the format of this year’s GLW – with one week focused on global virtual events with a diverse range of external experts, followed by three weeks of market-specific events focused on team and individual reskilling. So as our colleagues explored the evolving context of our clients and markets, AI and its impact on work, and the performance, innovation and resilience skills needed during transformations; they also undertook personal skills diagnostics, accessed career coaching opportunities, and participated in personal branding sessions. Demand for tokenised assets is expected to surge, with more buy-side firms planning to invest by 2024. The market for tokenised real-world assets is projected to grow significantly by 2034, with trade finance assets playing a major role. ⚡ Power for households in Türkiye – and jobs in the UK ⚡ We’ve announced a EUR249.09 million (equivalent to USD272 million) transaction that we arranged for Turkish renewables company Kalyon Enerji. The transaction was arranged in partnership with UK Export Finance to fund a project to construct and operate new solar power plants at seven sites across Türkiye – the second-largest such project in the country. British company UK Grid Solutions Ltd will supply and install critical equipment, supporting jobs at their site in Staffordshire. We had the pleasure of hosting 58 corporate and private clients at the Laguna National Golf Resort Club, Singapore last week. The event kicked off with a warm welcome from Sunil Kaushal and Patrick Lee, setting the stage for an exciting Ryder Cup-inspired tournament. With golf legends Catriona Matthews and Sandy Lyle leading the teams, the competition was thrilling, and Team Catriona emerged victorious! The celebrations continued into the evening with dinner, entertainment, and a fireside chat with the legendary captains. It was a perfect blend of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and celebration.
