Connect young people with STEM volunteers to link STEM subjects to the real world of work. Powered by STEM Learning.
About us
STEM Ambassadors are volunteers from a wide range of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) related jobs and disciplines across the UK. They offer their time and enthusiasm to help bring STEM subjects to life and demonstrate their value in life and careers for over 3 million young people across the UK. Delivering over 350,000 volunteering hours in the last year alone, STEM Ambassadors are an important, free-of-charge resource for teachers and other individuals working with young people both in and outside of the classroom. Our aim is to ensure that every young person within the UK has the chance to be inspired and engaged with STEM subjects by accessing support from STEM Ambassadors UK. To help us achieve this goal it is important for our STEM Ambassadors to provide a representative and diverse reflection of STEM that challenges existing stereotypes. From various disciplines such as engineers, designers, architects and technicians, to diverse backgrounds - 48% of our Ambassadors are women, 54% are under 35 and 17% are from ethnic minorities – our Ambassadors help bring a new and inspiring perspective to STEM lessons and career opportunities. Since 2002, the STEM Ambassadors scheme has brought the world of STEM directly into the classroom via our volunteering network. Real people breaking down stereotypes! ✨ We couldn't change the lives we do without our incredible network of partner sponsors and businesses - Transport for London, Sellafield Ltd, and thousands more! They fund our projects and accessible education resources, open their doors to students, support employees to become volunteer STEM Ambassadors, and spread the word about our mission and successes. Please send a LinkedIn message or email us to discuss your business being able to help us reach more young people also! ✍️ Employersupport@stem.org.uk #CSR #ESR LazenbyBrown

“This is the essence of why we partner with employers. Quickline’s goal to ensure rural communities have access to fast broadband has a huge impact on these communities, and our work is all about impact too – developing the appreciation and love of STEM Learning in young people and growing the talent pool." One of the biggest days of our calendar is coming up - #ProtectingOurPlanetDay! Over 180,000 joined in last year. 🌎 It's a day filled with live events, Q+A's with experts, and video streams to see the Eden Project, Antarctica and more live! All to get young people talking about the environment and climate change. We've also put together resources for even more talking points on our website - this the LEGO Group and Natural History Museum video for example, is from a larger collection about how we can help protect living things from extinction. 🦖 European Space Agency - ESA UK Space Agency

Adventuring in the Hills ⛰️🔧 Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to talk with a group of curious STEM (STEM Learning UK) children about apprenticeships who asked me, “Why do you love your job?” As a field service engineer, working remotely in the hills to fix diggers, my answer was simple: I’m passionate about solving problems and making a difference! Here’s why I find joy in what I do: ⚙️ My work takes me to some of the most beautiful locations, surrounded by nature, while I ensure that vital machinery is running smoothly. There’s something magical about blending technology with the great outdoors. ⚙️ Every day brings new challenges. Whether it’s diagnosing an issue remotely or fixing heavy machinery on-site, I love the thrill of troubleshooting and finding solutions that keep projects moving forward. ⚙️ Engaging with young minds reminds me of the importance of STEM fields. I hope to inspire them to explore careers in engineering and technology, where they can also make an impact. Your curiosity and passion can lead you to amazing places. Whether in the hills or beyond, engineering opens up a world of possibilities! ❤️🏴 STEM Ambassadors.
