🌟 We're still thinking about how amazing our 'Achieve, Grow, Change' Hack with Pure Storage and Natilik was earlier this month! 🌟 At the Natilik offices in London, we looked at Cloud Computing x Green Energy, innovating ideas for a cloud computing service that is mindful of the environment. Participants used tools such as AppShed, AppInventor and CodePen to materialise their ideas before presenting in front of a panel of our fantastic volunteer judges! We had some fantastic feedback from the young people that came along: 🗣 "It was very fun! I was able to present an idea i had collaborated with my friend on which i haven’t had the chance to do anywhere else!" 🗣 "I enjoyed the food and the coding bit. it was very yummy and the coding and presentation made me think more about eco friendly data centres" 🗣 "It was a relaxing environment where i had the opportunity to make friends and be creative" And of all attendees, 86.84% felt that their confidence in STEAM had improved after this event. 🙌 🎊 We want to extend a BIG Stemettes thank you to Pure Storage, Natilik, Katie Griffiths, Wendy Stusrud, Hayley Knott and all of our fantastic volunteers - we couldn't have done this without you! 🎊 #Stemettes #DiversityinSTEM #STEAM #WomeninSTEM #PureStorageStemettes #NatilikStemettes

At the start of July, I had the pleasure of volunteering with Stemettes alongside fellow female engineers from Thales to inspire young women and non-binary individuals to pursue STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) passions! I was honoured to be on the panel alongside Ellie Stratton and Eilidh Dougherty to talk about our journeys into engineering as members of the early careers community here at Thales and to share some advice we would have given our younger selves. It was lovely to see such creativity and enthusiasm from the students throughout the day! I recently joined a #STEM Goals session at our Reading site, where Thales employees, along with our partner Stemettes and local students, came together. The aim of the session was to encourage and motivate young girls and non-binary individuals to pursue their dreams in science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Our employees dedicated their volunteering hours to deliver the session, assisting the students in gaining valuable skills ranging from coding to problem-solving. Through this hands-on experience, they acquired a wealth of knowledge and insight. I strongly believe that by promoting a diverse and inclusive STEM community, that we can unlock limitless potential for innovation. #Innovation #volunteering

"Today signifies a milestone, not an end to new knowledge, research or problems to solve. Make a conscious effort to continue hearing and seeking new perspectives, as well as connecting the dots across disciplines. It’s not said often enough that the best innovation comes from cross-disciplinary approaches and diverse inputs." 👏 Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE gave an inspirational speech when she was today officially installed as Chancellor of the University − getting our summer graduation programme under way. https://lnkd.in/eM9XzFbN Dr A-Marie I.
