This week is National Blood Week in the UK. You may have heard in the news there is a shortage of O positive and O negative bloods - particularly in London and the South. Being able to match blood for patients quickly and effectively has been significantly hampered during this time. As Mental Health Awareness Week draws to a close, we wanted to reach out to those who may not feel comfortable in sharing their feelings but who may be reading this post and struggling. You may not know who to turn to for help and everything may feel overwhelming. Please know, that HELP IS AVAILABLE. If you feel unable to speak to your GP please consider speaking to NHS 111 (select mental health option) or a trained advisor at the Samaritans on 116 123.

At STERIS, we are asking our Associates to think about moving more for their mental health, from the small changes to the creative ideas for being more active. Teams from our Lincoln and Grimsby Processing Facilities came together for their first 5-a-side football match last weekend. This is hopefully going to be the first of many and something we'd like to see more of across the UK!

STERIS UK supports Mental Health Awareness Week. With this year’s theme focusing on moving more for mental health we have provided a pedometer to every UK Associate and, have set a challenge to see who can achieve the most steps.  Why are we doing this? The Mental Health Foundation knows that the relationship between physical and mental health is closely linked following a study which found a 20-30% lower risk of depression for adults participating in daily exercise. We want to encourage our Associates to consider ways in which they can get in more steps in their working day so we are conducting a study of our own to see what ingenuous ideas our Associates share with us! #moveformentalhealth #mentalhealthawarenessweek #healthyminds #MHAW24 #wearesteris #socialimpact #associatewellbeing
