February 6th is the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). Today, our CEO, Claire Lambon was joined by Operations Director, Rachel Windebank and Anita our Community Development Worker – Harmful Cultural Practices attended an event in Portsmouth alongside other professionals to discuss FGM and strengthen efforts to end this harmful practice. Wow what a transformation! We're so grateful to the team at Zurich Insurance who came into one of our refuge playrooms to give it a full makeover. The team went above and beyond to meet the brief that was given to them by the young people staying in refuge. Thank you for creating a safe and happy place for families to play and learn whilst they navigate through a difficult time.

Today, Stephanie Wells ACILEx and I visited Stop Domestic Abuse on behalf of Biscoes Solicitors. We were happy to contribute selection boxes for their Christmas party, along with small gifts for the parents and staff members. At Biscoes, supporting the most vulnerable in our society, particularly those who have had to flee their homes as a result of domestic abuse, is a cause that’s truly important to us and hope that this small gesture is enough to help brighten their days, particularly at this time of year.

Suicide is a confronting subject and yet sadly most of us have been touched by it in some way. It is a community issue, which requires a community response. We are delivering Suicide First Aid Lite - Virtual Training to give learners the knowledge and tools to understand that suicide is one of the most preventable deaths and some basic skills can help someone with thoughts of suicide stay safe from their thoughts and stay alive.
