Reflecting on our 30 years in practice has given us the opportunity to look at how our leadership structure has changed over time, and given us pause to think about our aspirations, the future direction, and continued vitality of the business. We are therefore excited to announce the next evolution of our leadership team; adding a diversity of thought and expertise at the top level, to help support and shape the future of the practice. We are delighted to announce the expansion of the Partnership with three new Partners, Luke Richardson-Brown, Matthew Jones, and Rebecca Campbell. Each of them has been at Studio PDP for more than a decade, and their passion, vision and commitment have helped shape our practice and culture. They are a huge part of who we are and what we do, and we’re excited that each of them brings a unique perspective and a passion for advancing the business. In addition to the Partner promotions, we are also celebrating the advancement of seven people to Associate level. Each has demonstrated outstanding leadership, technical expertise, and dedication, playing a key role in bridging senior leadership and project teams. Their efforts are vital to the success of our projects and the overall growth of the practice. Congratulations to Andres Hernandez, Chin Lye, Jokin Asiain Iraeta, Les van der Veen, Rasa Pravilone, Ron Villamor MCIAT and Santiago Rizo Zambrano. As it's National Apprenticeship Week 2025, we’re shining a spotlight on our brilliant apprentices, Kamil Perzanowski and Joel Baker-Smith! 🎉 We believe apprenticeships bring fresh perspectives, energy, and innovation to the architectural profession and both Kamil and Joel are making invaluable contributions to our practice. Their advice to future apprentices? 💡 Joel: "Do it! I am so glad I went down this route. You are always learning, gaining experience and earning a stable income. As long as you keep on top of your workload and stay organised, it is much more manageable than most people expect." 💡 Kamil: "I have, and continue to champion the apprenticeship route for anyone who is self-driven and passionate about architecture. The apprenticeship treats you with far more freedom and opportunity to grow, but it also challenges you with the responsibilities and risk of having to make a lot of your own decisions. In a way, it’s very reflective of how architecture is in itself." As a practice, we are proud to support apprenticeships and the next generation of architects. Click the link to read the full interview with Kamil and Joel and if you're considering an apprenticeship, we'd love to hear your thoughts! Did you know sand is the second most used resource after water? Or that 99% of people breathe air that exceeds WHO guidance? 🤔 Earlier this month, ACAN Climate Literacy hosted a Construction Collage workshop with Climate Clarity. The Construction Collage workshop is such a great tool for learning about the impacts of the built environment on the planet. A participatory workshop designed for people with an interest in the construction sector, as well as for all construction professionals, it breaks down how the construction industry affects the living world 🌍 We split into groups to dissect and discuss key topics in the built environment from operational energy use, to materials extraction, to resilient design. Now that we have experienced the workshop, we can train to become facilitators of it ourselves. Big thank you to Ash and Jess from Climate Clarity who facilitated the workshop with ACAN's Climate Literacy thematic group. Do check out Climate Clarity's suite of other workshops, which include topics such as Biodiversity and the Circular Economy. And thank you to Federica and Studio PDP for hosting 🙏 #Construction #ClimateChange #ClimateAction

As 2024 draws to a close, we want to wish you all a happy, restful and enjoyable festive break. This year marked a significant milestone for us as we celebrated 30 years in practice. It’s been a time to pause and feel proud of our achievements to date, as well as a time to reflect on changes in the wider built environment and to consolidate future plans and direction. With exciting things to come in 2025, we ask you to indulge us in a moment of reflection (if you will!); looking back at the key themes running throughout our work over the past decades and forward into the next. Explore these themes on our website, here: https://lnkd.in/eHRYybBY This Christmas we are proud to support the Architects Benevolent Society, who provide help to past and present members of the wider architectural community and their families in times of need. From all of us here, have a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

This year's Gingerbread City is now open at Cadogan's 'The Gaumont' on King's Road. A firm Christmas tradition for many London architectural and design practices, it's not only a wonderfully expressive outlet for our architects-turned-bakers, but a great way to inspire conversations about our cities and how we live in them in a fun, accessible way. Do go along and have a look at the incredible creations addressing this year's theme of 'The Recycled City', highlighting the importance of reuse, retrofit and repurposing in architecture. If you'd like to read more about this year's venue, The Gaumont, head over to our website to hear from Associate Director and project lead, Matthew Jones, about our approach to reimagining the Art Deco landmark as a fantastic, mixed-use development: https://lnkd.in/eHP5aSir #gingerbreadcity2024 Museum of Architecture

In Pictures: Proud Daikanyama. The brief for this Tokyo development was to create a unique space that would attract creative professionals, and that would embody both ‘liveliness’ and ‘serenity’. The development combines a 12-storey high-rise ‘front’ and a four-storey low-rise ‘terrace’ at the back. A passageway between the 'front' and the rear ‘terrace’ apartments plays host to shopfronts. Beyond, it opens to a verdant walkway where residents and the public alike can enjoy a stroll. All this combines to create a bustling commercial area at the base of the building. Our Hong Kong Studio was responsible for the facade concept design, the interior design of the common areas and the show apartment. Their design concept centred around craftsmanship, and so a design code was developed, with key elements identified as curves, natural materials and metalwork. Examples of the design code implementation can be seen in the striking façade of the 'terrace' back, clad in custom-made tiles and aluminium louvres projecting in a 'U' shape. Internally, the beautiful light wall at the back of the entrance lounge combines thinly sliced panels of onyx with a honeycomb metal screen, and is illuminated from behind. Studio PDP (Hong Kong)

It's always lovely to spend time sketching, so what better way to pass a lunchtime than joining in with the Architects Benevolent Society's #Time2Sketch2024? This year the theme was 'Looking outside'. Here are some sketches from our team (Joel Baker-Smith, Nikki Onderstall, Vivian Wong, Vlad Adrian Ignatescu, Sofia Nasir and Siân R.). Selected entries will be published in the Time 2 Sketch colouring book which is created by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris and all entries and colouring book proceeds go towards supporting the amazing work of the ABS.
