27.8% year on year growth is a pretty impressive number… 🚀 That’s the year on year increase in the number of Martech companies included in the famous Martech Landscape unveiled by Scott Brinker and Frans Riemersma this month in their State of Martech Report 2024. There are now 14,106 companies listed, up, to quote the report, by a ‘mind-boggling’ 9304% from the first report back in 2011 when the number was just 150. Life was a lot simpler back in 2011. 🔍 Key Insight from AntiCon , London: At yesterday's engaging AntiCon event, Scott Brinker shared that out of the 14,106 Martech firms, 3,170 are new AI-native products. Despite their smaller size, these innovative companies are reshaping the industry. The established players are responding by integrating AI into their existing products to stay competitive. 📈 The Future of Martech: It is difficult to think of any industry that is not going to be significantly disrupted by AI and clearly martech is no exception. The year ahead promises to be full of change and opportunity. 📘 Find out more: Do search out The State of Martech 2024 report from chiefmartec. Its packed full of data and is a whopping 101 pages but as Scott himself suggested you can always ask ChatGPT to summarise it. 🙏 Many thanks to Carlos Doughty and the LXA team for another successful, and packed, AntiCon event. #ai #marketing #martech

🚀 What makes a compelling business case for leveraging AI? Here are some insights from my recent presentation on harnessing AI to drive profitability at The Richmond Finance Directors' Forum. One key discussion centred around what makes a robust business case for AI adoption. Here are four key factors we uncovered: ·       Can a user need (internal or external) be identified that is worth solving? ·       Is there sufficient and relevant data available? ·       Are repetitive tasks currently involved in addressing the user need? ·       Is there a predictive element to the potential AI solution? It was fascinating to hear of business use cases already being addressed by the delegates using AI, such as translating Norwegian documents to Swedish and vice versa, internal customer service chat bots and of course Sub(x)'s use case of replacing A/B testing with AI optimisation for digital marketing. The event keynote on the future of the global economy from Trevor Williams was superb. Firm opinions, clearly stated and backed up with numbers! Thanks to the ever-knowledgeable Richard Young for inviting me to speak and Kirsty Brown and the Richmond Events team for running an excellent event at the wonderful Savoy hotel. #AI #Finance #Marketing

When a friend of mine told me about an event entitled ‘AI policy and regulation’ I thought it sounded boring but important. I signed up without much enthusiasm. Turns out it was both thought provoking and very important. Loads of good stuff about the rapidly evolving AI regulatory environment and real practical advice for boards grappling with AI. James Boyle eulogised about the increasing use of ‘model cards’. If you are building AI models well worth considering the compliance benefit of model cards to demonstrate ‘intent by design’ and Nvidia's Model Card++ approach. Thanks to NVIDIA AI and Mishcon de Reya LLP for putting on such as excellent event, to the four speakers, James Boyle, Ashley Williams, Rafah El-Khatib and Max Beverton-Palmer and to Kate Mayfield for drawing my attention to the event in the first place. #ai #aipolicy #airegulation #aimodels

At today’s DMA (Data & Marketing Association) UK Customer Engagement: Future Trends event, Salesforce's Jonathan Beeston came up with a great quote: 'A ChatGPT prompt is today’s version of a DOS prompt.' It’s a good line for those of us who shed no tears at the demise of DOS prompts and underscores how rapidly AI will transition from visibility to seamless integration in outcome-driven applications. Ian Gibbs set the scene for the event by identify 3 big trends for 2024 uncovered by DMA future trends research: 1.     AI One Year On – driving marketing budget efficiencies 2.     Personalisation Rebooted – More loyal, less price sensitive customers 3.     Brand Experiences IRL – Loyalty driven by creating emotional brand connections Simi L. brought the first two trends to life talking about her company Yuty®. Yuti uses AI to help individual customers find the right beauty product for them. It’s a clever personalised thing ... and by matching the right brands to the right customer those brands have seen an average 194% increase in retention. AI operationalised in action! Simi also talked persuasively about Yuti’s use of synthetic data to train AI models to reduce the risk of bias and to be the right side of the ethical debate around the use of AI. A debate which is only just really getting going. Thanks to Billy Cripps for nudging me to attend and the DMA for putting on such a thought provoking and sold out (!) event. Can't wait for the next one ...
