About us
Everyone has a role to play in helping Suffolk grow – in making this a stronger community and an even better place to live. Our role is to help you. Suffolk Community Foundation is making a lasting difference to the lives of people in Suffolk by connecting people who need help with those who are willing to give. We assist individuals, families and businesses with their local charitable giving and award grants to a range of charities and community groups that reach people in need throughout Suffolk. Our work spans every corner of the county; the grants we award supports a huge range of local projects such as relieving rural isolation for older people, creating opportunities for young people or providing vital equipment for community centres – all projects where a relatively small amount of money can make a big difference. People who want to give to the communities they live and work in often find it difficult to know where to direct their donations effectively. That’s where we can help. Being a local team, we have the experience and knowledge of local needs and so can help donors target their giving precisely to the problems they want to solve. By taking a targeted approach, you can really see the lasting difference your generosity makes. We see charitable gifts as investments in the future of Suffolk. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the Foundation has awarded over £9 million to more than 2,000 charitable organisations across Suffolk over the past nine years. We currently manage over 60 charitable funds, totalling over £7.5 million in endowed assets. As a member of UK Community Foundations (which represents 48 independent community foundations operating across the UK) we are collectively one of the fastest growing UK-wide funders of local charities and voluntary organisations. We know your local community is important to you. Let’s make it better together.

Thank you for all your support. It was inspiring to see first-hand the impact of your grants. 💜
Every year, Harwich Haven Authority contributes money to the Port Community Fund, which is managed by the Suffolk Community Foundation. This pot of funding is dedicated to helping communities in and around the Port of Felixstowe, which is within our jurisdiction area. Local organisations can make an application for funding and our panel decides who gets the much-needed money and how much. Yesterday our director of strategy and partnerships, Helen Rudd, joined Hope, Rageenee from Port of Felixstowe / Port of Britain, Anita Toye from Bidwells and Clare Gibson from Suffolk Community Foundation to visit Langer Primary School and Felixstowe Academy to see how they have put their funding to good use. It was hard to hear about and see the real-life struggles that some families and young people face, even being without basic necessities which most of us take for granted, but humbling to see the difference that they money donated by the Port Community Fund is making to their everyday lives, enabling schools to provide what their students need to thrive in education. Schools have become a haven for some people and as a Trust Port, we are committed to giving back, to re-invest our profits into our local communities for the good of local people and future generations. If you are a local organisation in need of funding then applications are now open for both our Suffolk fund and our Essex fund, managed by Essex Community Foundation. https://lnkd.in/e-Va6Xe9 #charitablegiving #trustport #communityrelations #felixstowe #suffolk #portcommunityfund #harwich #essex #charities #fundraising #grants

Jess, from Suffolk Community Foundation's grants team, along with Digital Inclusion Fund panel members Chris and Lesley-Ann, visited Steel Bones recently. Steel Bones UK supports amputee families in living life to the fullest, fostering a proactive and supportive peer community. Through the Digital Inclusion Fund, £22,500 was awarded to a project aimed at equipping amputees with digital skills to combat isolation and enhance independence. It was inspiring to hear firsthand from course participants about the skills they have gained and the boost in confidence they have experienced since starting. Thank you for having us! Jess, from our Grants Team, and Jane, one of our trustees, enjoyed a visit to River Church Ipswich last week. It was wonderful to hear about the incredible work River Church is doing to support the local community in Ipswich. River Church Ipswich is an Anglican Church with a vision to see 'Ipswich overflowing with life' - every person who lives, works, or studies in Ipswich thriving in every sphere. Projects run by River Church include River Store - a social supermarket serving more than 40,000 meals per year to disadvantaged households, Baby Love - a support group for small children and their parents and carers, Bridge the Gap Football - a football group for young men at risk of crime or struggling with mental health and Spear - an employability programme for NEET 16-24 year olds. River Church has been awarded grants from various funds managed by Suffolk Community Foundation including the Suffolk Smokefree Generation Fund, the Police & Crime Commissioner's Fund and the High Sheriff’s Fund. Thank you for such an inspiring visit! 💜 #communityfunding #localimpact #suffolkcharities
