Our Graduate Surveyors have just completed their second week of Sulmara's six-week program! After arriving in Aberdeen, they jumped into the fundamental of survey engineering—learning survey sensor setups and picking up valuable insights. This week, half the team tackled their offshore medicals, while the other half advanced their skills with Veripos GNSS training. A big thank you to STR for hosting several days of hands-on training and to Sonardyne International Ltd, Ashtead Technology, and Veripos for giving our grads an unforgettable learning experience. To wrap it all up, the team enjoyed a well-deserved break with a brainteasing afternoon at Breakout Games Aberdeen. Onwards to week three!

Last week, we were pleased to welcome nine Graduate Surveyors to Sulmara at our Glasgow head office. Coming from the UK, Poland, Canada, and the US, they are joining us for a six-week program before heading into the field. Led by Jamie Johnston, our Technical Training Manager, they spent their first week learning the fundamentals of offshore surveying. Their training covered surface and subsea positioning, survey equipment, calibrations, and methods, along with practical exercises in survey mathematics and CAD. Beyond the training, the week was also about building connections, with social evenings and a weekend exploring Glasgow before heading to Aberdeen for the next phase of their training. #graduateprogram #surveying #development

We often use the word "resilience" to describe Sulmara, and this is what it looks like—a group of individuals coming together to tackle any obstacle—30 to be exact. It's not been easy. Since 2019, we have tested and implemented the technology surrounding USVs and other innovative survey methods in some of the world's toughest marine environments. The application of new technology is difficult, and the road to acceptance is full of challenges. But we have proven the technology works.
