That’s why we’re launching our briefing “Breaking Chains, Building Sustainably: Overcoming supply chain barriers“ which provides a firsthand view of how supply chain leaders in the technology industry, including Dell, Intel, Microsoft, and Sage have worked to incorporate sustainability into their supply chains. Through our interviews with these organizations and two additional technology companies, we identified the main barriers they face and the solutions they and other companies have implemented to drive change and achieve success. Latin America and Africa are areas of vast renewable energy potential, but to date, utilization of their wind and solar resources remains comparatively limited, especially in Africa. This has negative implications for countries' economic development, national and global climate ambitions, and energy firms that are unable to successfully develop projects. Our newly launched Renewables Conundrums briefing “How to unlock wind and solar energy potential in Latin America and Africa”: - Provides an overview of renewable energy development in the two regions - Reviews constraining factors and examples of successful development - Provides recommendations for how governments and the private sector can seek to promote the sector’s growth. We are delighted to launch ERM's 2024 Sustainability Report: Stepping Up. The scale of the sustainability challenges facing society is growing and without significant action, the consequences are likely to be irreversible. It is time for the world to step up to accelerate impact. At ERM, we have been stepping up: - We have updated our Decarbonization Strategy to align with net-zero science-based targets approved under the SBTi Net-Zero Standard, committing us to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040. - We have delivered nature projects in over 100 countries and are stepping up towards a nature positive future with our updated Nature Strategy and early adoption of the Taskforce for Nature-Related Financial Disclosures (TFND). - We have updated our Human Rights Strategy and reaffirm our commitment to the UN Declaration of Human Rights. - We have launched our new strategy around Sustainable Supply Chain Management, recognizing the importance of our suppliers in reaching our sustainability goals. - We have intensified our efforts to assess the impacts of our client work, ensuring that we drive positive outcomes and sustainable practices across all our projects. Every day, our global teams are dedicated to making a difference and driving real impact on a larger scale. Together with our #ERMFoundation, we will continue to step up to shape a sustainable future. Which country’s sustainability agenda do you think stands out? The respondents of this year’s GlobeScan/ERM Sustainability Institute Leaders Survey were asked to name specific national governments they think are leaders in advancing sustainable development. Sweden and other Northern European countries were the most recognized leaders in advancing the sustainability agenda. However, Costa Rica stood out as a recognized leading government from Latin America. Unlock more insights on the Sustainability Leaders Survey in the comment below. #Sustainability #SustainabilityLeadership #SustainableDevelopment

Staying up to date on ESG (environmental, social, and governance) and EHS (environmental, health and safety) regulations is crucial for ensuring compliance and avoiding legal repercussions. The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) have all become core topics on the corporate sustainability agendas of many companies worldwide. #CSRD #CSDDD #CBAM

A common theme connects the various barriers that emerged from our research and interviews for the Catching the Wave report: companies struggle to fully digest that the world is heading into a tumultuous period of transformational change. The widespread focus on short-term performance from companies, investors, and banks is likely the largest impediment to the successful integration of sustainability. The Catching the Wave report, which we developed together with WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development, lays out the barriers holding companies back, the multiple truths they must confront, and the lessons that can be drawn from past disruptions. Download the report here: https://lnkd.in/drqX8qQf 💾 You can also join one of our two webinars 💻 on 30 July to explore the report's findings further.
