Congratulations to Rebecca Cresswell who recently achieved a great outcome for a client in a personal injury matter. Rebecca, who is our Family Law Partner started her career in Personal Injury and Litigation work and continues to take some Personal Injury cases alongside her busy family workload as her passion in law has always been to help those in need. Sometimes accidents which occur are truly life changing. This claim arose out of alleged negligence by the client’s employer, who failed to undertake a suitable assessment of the risks of such work and allowed the client to work with dangerous machinery. Although early admissions were made in respect of breach of duty, the Defendants did not admit causation and the Claimant had to prove their injuries. Expert medical evidence was obtained, all of whom were supportive of the claim and confirmed that the injury would cause an impact on our client’s future earning capacity. Negotiations took place, and a final offer in the sum of £450,000 was made by the Defendant and accepted by the Claimant. Our client was extremely pleased with this result as it allowed them to move forward with their life and put the accident behind them. There was certainly a buzz at the Stadium of Light last night at an event to celebrate one Year to go to the opening match of the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup. The tournament will be held in eight cities across England - opening in Sunderland and closing at Twickenham Stadium for the final. Great presentation from Sarah Massey, Managing Director of Women's Rugby World Cup 2025 and panel discussion featuring Katy Daly-Mclean who captained the England side to win the 2014 Women's Rugby World Cup.
