📣 Following the #Budget2024 announcement, Switchee’s CEO Tom Robins shares his thoughts: ‘As we enter winter 2024, we are prepared to respond to the Budget and look forward to working with the sector to deliver positive impacts at scale and pace.’ #UKHousing #AffordableHomes #SocialHousing #DataForGood #TechForGood #WarmHomes
Today’s #Budget2024 marks a crucial step toward providing the affordable and social homes we desperately need. The top-up funding for the Affordable Homes Programme, greater certainty over rental income, and the promise of new investment in the multi-year Spending Review next spring are vital building blocks towards fixing the housing crisis. However, as we focus on creating new affordable homes, we must not lose sight of improving our existing housing stock. Switchee data reveals that last winter, 3.7 million UK households, 13% of the population, were in fuel poverty. Initiatives such as Warm Homes are essential in addressing the injustice of poverty. Switchee remains committed to collaborating with social landlords and the government to ensure that people are at the forefront of long-term housing strategies. As we enter winter 2024, we are prepared to respond to the Budget and look forward to working with the sector to deliver positive impacts at scale and pace. iNHouse Communications, National Energy Action (NEA), Adam Scorer, Matthew Copeland, Healthy Homes Hub, Jenny Danson, Shamir Hale, Jess Prevost, Katie Perrior, Daisy Pierce, Thomas Jane, Charlie Mercer, Ian Wright, Chartered Institute of Housing.
