Empowering young people to help run their own youth club sessions is always hugely rewarding, and we want to say a big well done to Maisie who has just completed her young leader training. She is now leading some activities in the junior session at Market Drayton Youth Club and is a credit to the team. Wow, what a day for our young people who travelled to London for the UK Youth Parliament debate in the House of Commons - an absolutely amazing experience! Gathering in Parliament’s grand entrance with its gallery and vast stained-glass window, they proudly stood for photos and had a meet and greet with the renowned and honourable Mr Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle. They then walked through the ornate lobby to reach the chamber to represent Shropshire discussing five debate topics at the benches: Changing the voting age to age 16; Young people receiving a living wage; Public transport costs; Political literacy in schools and period dignity. The young people had an inspiring and memorable day throughout and returned to Shropshire full of determination to make a positive change in their wider community, albeit very tired from the once in a lifetime experience - or maybe they will be back as aspiring politicians for the future! #SYA #YouthParliament

We would like to say a big thank you to Wem Young Farmers who raised just over £2,000 for SYA last year - an amazing amount which is already being hugely appreciated by young people in the area! Members of Shifnal Youth Club have been enjoying a fantastic project with Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery to help create pieces of art which will be sold in the museum shop! The project involved lots of artwork and creativity, along with an understanding of what makes an effective piece of merchandise, so it was a really enriching experience for everyone involved. #sya #shrewsburymuseum #youthclubs
