Today is #InternationalWomenDay! 💫 In recognition of today's values, our Managing Director, Remi Portes, reflects on what today means to him - professionally, personally, and for Sygna: "I live in a house with four incredible women: my wife, her niece, and my two daughters. Every day, I’m reminded why pushing for gender equality isn’t just a professional responsibility; it’s personal. Construction has made progress in diversity over the years. More women are entering the industry, and conversations about inclusion are more frequent. However, at Sygna, like much of the industry, we recognise there’s still work to be done, especially in increasing the presence of women in operational roles. Last year, while attending several industry events, something continually struck me: some tables were filled with men only. Moments like that remind me that we have a long way to go. At our tables, we ensure a balance because we value inclusivity. But I can’t ignore the reality that our company, like many others, is still male-led. Not for lack of effort, but because the candidate pool in operational roles is still heavily male-orientated. We need to do more to attract, retain, and develop women in construction, particularly in leadership and on-site roles. Men in leadership can’t just be passive supporters - we must be active allies. That means challenging outdated attitudes, advocating for fairness, and ensuring that women have the same opportunities to lead, progress, and shape the future of this industry. Here is my message to all the women in this industry: keep spreading the word, sharing your experiences, and encouraging the next generation to join us. To those wondering what career to choose: Construction is an incredible industry which offers challenges, opportunities, and the chance to shape the future - we need your talent! What Are We at Sygna Doing to Make a Difference? ✅ Expanding Our Hiring Reach: We’ve broadened our recruitment efforts to engage with underrepresented groups. It’s not about ticking a box, it’s about looking in the right places and ensuring real opportunities exist. ✅ Investing in Early Career Talent: We’ve started speaking at universities, showcasing the career paths available in construction. We’ve developed a graduate programme, and we’re proud to soon welcome our first female graduate engineer. This must become the norm, not the exception. ✅ Ongoing Mentorship: Throughout my career, I've mentored young people from different backgrounds, and I still do today. It’s one of the best ways to pass on knowledge, open doors, and support those who might not have traditionally seen a place for themselves in this industry. We must all commit to taking meaningful action every day, to drive progress toward true gender equality within and beyond the construction industry. A Question for My Friends in the Industry: What actions have you seen that are making a real difference? Let’s share ideas and work together for change!"

🌟 Celebrating International Women's Day at Sygna! 🌟 On March 8th, we celebrate International Women's Day - a day dedicated to recognising the achievements of women around the world, which also serves as a call to action for accelerating gender equality and addressing the ongoing challenges women face worldwide. At Sygna, we’re committed to fostering diversity and inclusivity every day, and we’re proud to lead by example in the construction industry. While we celebrate the values of IWD every day, we’re dedicating an entire week to highlighting its significance and impact! 🙌 Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing daily posts highlighting the incredible women of Sygna. At Sygna, we don’t just oversee commissioning - we elevate it 💫 Sygna is proud to have been a part of the transformation of an 86,000 sq ft commercial office space in Fitzrovia, leading the commissioning process for a two-storey rooftop extension and full refurbishment! Designed to achieve BREEAM ‘Outstanding,’ WELL Platinum carbon targets, and a NABERS 4* rating, this project is setting the benchmark for efficiency and sustainability🌳 As Commissioning Authority, we ensured compliance with design standards, proactively problem-solved on-site, and collaborated closely with stakeholders to optimise every system for peak performance. Our hands-on approach, detailed oversight, and real-time risk mitigation helped maintain progress and exceed client expectations. Thank you to Commissioning Manager Mark Norman, who represented Sygna on this project, for his dedication to delivering excellence once again 👏 Read more about this project, and more on our website below! 🔗 https://lnkd.in/duuBUwNG #TeamSygna #London #CommissioningManagement #Construction #Sustainability
