♻️ On Global Recycling Day 2025, we reflect on the importance of building circular waste management systems. This year’s theme - "Breaking Barriers: A Revolutionary Blueprint for the Waste Management Crisis" - resonates deeply with the mission of Project STOP. Co-founded in 2017 by Borealis and #Systemiq, Project STOP works together with Indonesian national, regional and local governments to develop and implement effective circular waste management systems and provide waste management services for up to 2 million people. Since 2017, Project STOP has: ✅ Provided waste services to over 500,000 people ✅ Created nearly 300 full-time jobs ✅ Collected close to 80,000 tonnes of waste, including 12,000+ tonnes of plastic 🌏In many coastal and vulnerable communities, recycling means tackling deeper systemic challenges – from financing and scaling systems to building local capacity. That’s why Project STOP partners with governments, businesses, and communities to turn obstacles into solutions, including: 🔹Establishing Indonesia’s first Regency-wide waste management system in Banyuwangi, East Java, with our scale-up partner Clean Rivers 🔹 Innovative tools like the Banyuwangi Waste App (with Accenture Song) 🔹 Policy support to ensure long-term impact 🔹Ongoing capacity building and knowledge sharing If we are serious about a circular economy, we must address those foundational gaps. The 3rd edition of ‘Download Davos’ recently took place, organised by Folha de S.Paulo, SAS Brasil and MOL Impacto, bringing together experts to discuss the main insights, best practices and strategic perspectives of this year's World Economic Forum.   In an all-female panel, Patricia Ellen da Silva joined Renata Piazzon, Luciana Coelho and Roberta Faria to explore Brazil's strategic role in the global climate and energy transition agenda, especially with #COP30 on the horizon. Amid geopolitical challenges, food, energy and forest security have become critical priorities - areas in which Brazil has a leading position.   The next step is to turn commitments into concrete projects and attract investment to accelerate this transition.
