The National Audit office confirms the depth of the crisis in SEND: "Given that the current system costs over £10 billion a year, and that demand for SEN provision is forecast to continue increasing, the government needs to think urgently about how its current investment can be better spent, including through more inclusive education, identifying and addressing needs earlier, and developing a whole-system approach to help achieve its objectives." #send #children #schools

Our relationships affect every area of our life and well-being. It is important that young people develop a strong understanding of what a healthy relationship looks like and that they learn how to assess their own relationships. The Healthy Relationship Triangle is a free resource that schools can use with their students to develop understanding and positive behaviours around healthier relationships. The animation provides a clear visual image, with an acronym that is easy to remember. RTC stands for Respect, Trust and Communication and forms the 3 sides of the triangle, encouraging young people to look for these qualities in their real-life relationships. The animation on their site is a useful resource for schools. #relationships #wellbeing

Is it right that we should rely on charity to meet the basic needs of children and young people? Given the dire state of local authority finance, perhaps it’s the only option. We examine these questions in our blog this week. #mentalhealth #funding

On World Mental Health Day we are thinking of those in work places who are struggling to cope. At TAC Access we are particularly thinking of staff in our schools, colleges and universities who are supporting the growing number of children and young people who need support for their mental health and who are often likely to need help themselves. #worldmentalhealthday #schools #colleges

Every parent will have experienced the anxieties that can be associated with getting their children to school. This is especially true after a long break and can be more particularly challenging for those with autistic children. One of our partners, Rachael Malthouse- a healthcare professional, mother of an autistic son and founder of Jamup shares some advice and insight with us in our blog this week. #schoolanxiety #autism #parents
