Employment Right Bill - What’s Changing? Last week the Labour government published its Employment Rights Bill, delivering on its commitment to introduce legislation aimed at improving worker rights within its first 100 days in office. These changes mark a major expansion of employee rights and protections in several key areas, including: Day One Rights: Protection against unfair dismissal from the first day of employment, ending the current two-year wait Ban on Exploitative Zero-Hours Contracts: Introducing a right to more predictable hours and compensation for cancelled shifts Flexible Working as a Default: Employees will have the right to flexible working arrangements from day one Stronger Workplace Harassment Protections: Employers will be legally required to take all reasonable steps to prevent workplace harassment Simplified Worker Status: Merging the distinction between 'workers' and 'employees' into a single status to provide uniform rights Consultation on the Bill is due to take place in 2025 meaning the majority of reforms will not come into effect until 2026, with day one unfair dismissal rights not taking effect until autumn 2026. What type of impact are the changes likely to have on your business? #employmentlaw #HR #startups

Employment Contracts - 5 Ways to Get Them Right Contracts - not exciting, but they are foundational documents, critical to clarity, flexibility and protection for both employees and businesses. They are often neglected until it is too late. Don’t make that mistake. 1. Maximise clarity and precision: Define clauses precisely to avoid confusion. Say what you mean in clear terms. 2. Cover all your bases: Too many contracts miss critical elements which only become apparent later on - don’t be silent on important employment rights. 3. Prioritise flexibility and control: Ensure you are creating contracts which give you the flexibility you need to meet the needs of your business. 4. Future-proof: Include provisions for changes to your business, your work environments, your industry, etc. 5. Ensure they are enforceable: Often contracts or clauses are simply not enforceable. Make sure they are legally sound and appropriate for your legal jurisdiction. Prioritising these factors ensures contracts that protect both employer and employee interests. Not all contracts do what they need to. Need help with yours? Contact us for a chat. #Talenty #Startups #HR

Smaller audit and accounts firms don’t need to rely solely on agencies to recruit. Since 2022 we’ve been working with Greenback Alan LLP, an audit-led chartered accountancy, to manage their direct recruitment channels. They’ve had a steady flow of hiring needs to meet demand for their service and like many smaller firms, they don’t have a dedicated recruitment team. They signed up for our fractional recruitment and HR service (Partner Service) which focuses on attracting talent through direct channels and not relying on agencies. Read the full case study here: https://lnkd.in/ehhBznp7 Or check us out at www.talenty.co.uk to see how you can stop paying agency fees on every hire. #audit #accountancy #recruitment
