In 1590, in Middleburg in Netherlands, Hans and Zacharias Janssen invented the microscope, which led to the discovery of cells, paving the way to a revolution in science and medicine. Before long, the microscope would reveal the invisible colonies of bacteria and viruses that both sustain and threaten human life, which brought us modern vaccines and antibiotics. Today, I am excited to announce our partnership with Jimmy Sastra, PhD and Mark Zhang as we lead the $5.6m Seed round in Monomer Bio alongside LifeX Ventures, Notley Ventures, Kevin Patrick Mahaffey and Amit Gupta. Jimmy and Mark are building the operating system for wet labs thereby bridging the gap between the biologists in the wet lab and the bioinformaticians in the dry lab, starting with cell culture. Monomer marks our second commitment in the Software Stack for Open Science thesis after leading the seed round in Seqera in 2021. It seems only natural that the next technological revolution in the space will be led by a Dutch co-founder 🇳🇱

Ewa brings more than three decades of expertise in trade credit, spanning broking and underwriting, alongside her experience as a reinsurance purchaser and her extensive network within the industry.
