And... that's a wrap! Huge thanks to everyone who came to our launch event yesterday morning. It was great to hear from so many speakers and encourage the conversation around tech careers, hopefully changing attitudes for the better. For those that missed it, we heard from Jill McKinney, David Dunn, Andy Blenkinsop, Opencast, Newcastle University, Andrew McFetrich, Deni Chambers and even the North of Tyne Mayor, Jamie Driscoll. After attending a careers event at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland, Saiesh Nachinolkar was keen to embark on his journey in the tech landscape. It was at a careers event where Saiesh met Caroline, who gave an excellent overview of Tech Talent Engine and its offerings. As someone who was actively looking for roles in the North East of England, Saiesh was aware of the competition up against him. However, keen to make an impression, Saiesh continued to persevere. "My advice for attending careers events is to be proactive and approachable. Don't be afraid to strike up conversations and ask questions. Have a few key points about yourself ready to share, and be sure to follow up with new contacts afterwards. Making a genuine connection can make all the difference." 🗣️ What should you prepare before attending a careers event? "Before attending a careers event, it's essential to do your homework. Research the companies and professionals who will be there, and have your CV updated and ready to share. Prepare a few thoughtful questions and practice your introduction so you can confidently present yourself. The more prepared you are, the more you'll get out of the event."
