  • We’d like to express our heartfelt thanks to Wendy Stuart of STUART ENERGY LIMITED and her committee for organising a hugely successful Charity Ball which took place at the Brick Stadium Wigan on the 8th March. Over £29,000 has been raised (including expected matched funding from Barclays) all in support of young people facing cancer. We’re thankful to all guests attending, sponsors and most importantly to Alessia for boldly sharing her experiences of cancer as a young person and the vital support she received from Teenage Cancer Trust. 💙

  • We’re delighted to share our new Erased Tapes curated Saturday night headliners for this years #TeenageCancerGigs series are Penguin Cafe with Daniel Brandt, Douglas Dare and Hatis Noit. Tickets on sale now – visit: https://lnkd.in/dwTZ35yQ to get yours!     We’re also excited to announce next year’s guest curator for our Royal Albert Hall shows... or should that be – Cure-ator?! Robert Smith of legendary rock band The Cure will be taking over the reins for 2026 and we cannot wait to see who he brings to the lineup.  Robert said: “Teenage Cancer Trust does the most fantastic work, and it is a great honour - and a real thrill - to be asked to curate the 2026 shows at the Royal Albert Hall. I can promise it will be a very memorable week!”    Robert takes over from our Honorary Patron Roger Daltrey who stepped back from curating duties last year. Returning with their first new album in 16 years, Songs Of A Lost World, The Cure received widespread critical acclaim, featuring heavily in 2024’s ‘albums of the year’ lists. The Guardian described it as “powerful, possessed of a dark beauty and frequently moving in a manner that feels different to anything they’ve released before”, while The Times described it as “their Dark Side of the Moon”, “rich in melodrama and bombast”.    Formed in 1978, The Cure have sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, headlined the Glastonbury Festival four times and were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2019. They are considered to be one of the most influential bands to ever come out of the UK.

  • Teenage Cancer Trust Lead Nurse Karen and Cancer Research UK (CRUK) Senior Research Nurse Ben hosted a visit for Chi Onwurah MP at our unit at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle today. Chi heard about the collaborative TYAR.org website they created alongside young people looking to increase young people's participation in cancer clinical trials. She also toured the unit, meeting with some amazing young people to chat about their experiences and the impact of Teenage Cancer Trust.

  • Maddy was just 16 when she was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. Being young can be fun, exciting, awkward and challenging. It’s a unique and special time, full of big moments, milestones and memories – but when you’re a young person with cancer this period can instead be very difficult. For our Only Young Once campaign, Maddy shares her story and how Teenage Cancer Trust supported her during this time. • Yesterday we had an amazing afternoon unveiling ‘Turn Up The Love’, an incredible artwork by renowned street artist Mr Brainwash, created specially to celebrate the 25th anniversary of our iconic shows at the Royal Albert Hall. Huge thanks to Clarendon Fine Art for helping make this collaboration happy – and to Mr Brainwash himself who’s an incredible supporter of the charity. After the unveiling he signed 100 limited-edition posters for us available via our online shop: https://lnkd.in/evfbg3C4 The exclusive piece will be exhibited at the Royal Albert Hall during our flagship fundraising gigs, taking place from 24-30 March. We're so proud of our long history with the Royal Albert Hall and with the broader music industry but this is part of an exciting new foray for us into the art world. All the money raised will go towards providing desperately-needed specialist care for teenagers and young people with cancer and we can’t do it without the support of the incredible people who give their time, talent and energy to helping us. So a big thank you to you all!  💙

  • Today we're launching #OnlyYoungOnce, a campaign raising awareness of teenage and young adult cancer. Being young can be fun, exciting, awkward, challenging – it’s a unique and special time, full of big moments, milestones and memories. But imagine being told you have cancer just as life’s getting started. When a young person hears this devastating news, Teenage Cancer Trust is here for them. Through our nurses, youth workers and hospital units, we provide specialised care and support so young people with cancer can live their lives to the fullest, during and after treatment. When cancer tears your teens apart, we’ll help you pick up the pieces. #CancerAwareness #YoungAdulthood #CancerSupport

  • There’s a lot of really useful information online, but it’s important to know you can’t trust everything you read. This is especially important when it comes to information about your health. Rosie Vare, Health Information Manager at Teenage Cancer Trust, said “Being diagnosed with cancer can be an overwhelming experience, leaving people in a vulnerable position, and many people will of course search online and visit social media for advice and support."    “This can be extremely useful. But it’s important to understand that there is a huge amount of false, inaccurate, or misleading information out there - and to help people understand how to find trustworthy information about cancer that they can rely on.” These are her 5 tips on how to find trustworthy information about cancer safely online: 1. Use trustworthy websites 2. Don't believe everything 3. Look for balance 4. Use the internet as a starting point 5. Everyone is different
