Not the worst place to start your Thursday morning. Great to finish my time in Liverpool by speaking to UKinbound members about the new Government’s approach and agenda and to outline the challenges and opportunities that inbound tourism businesses face. Thanks to Joss Croft OBE - 杨博路 and Lauren Broughton for inviting me to speak and to UKinbound members for their questions.

As parliament resumed this week after the summer recess, our team also got back into Westminster meeting with MPs and Peers, re-forming APPGs, holding parliamentary roundtables and meeting with key stakeholders.   There is a real energy and enthusiasm in SW1, with the newly elected MPs engaged, enthused and full of ideas. It has been impressive to see that despite many MPs still not having staff and some having IT issues that many are keen and eager to engage. The breadth of experience and obvious talent of the new MPs is really encouraging and brings with it huge opportunities.    For those looking to engage with MPs, particularly at party conference remember that MPs offices are not yet running at 100% and inboxes remain exceptionally congested.    This week our team: Re-formed the APPG for the Ocean at a packed meeting of MPs and Peers with Sarah Taylor from National Oceanography Centre Held a Parliamentary Roundtable on Pharmacy with Leyla Hannbeck and Independent Pharmacies Association (IPA). The strong support from parliamentarians for their local pharmacies was so great that the event was standing room only. Attended the AXREM Parliamentary Reception learning about the latest developments in HealthTech. The event hosted by AXREM marked the launch of their Strategic Priorities 2025-27. Launched the expanded APPG for the Future of Aviation, Travel and Aerospace Supported the re-forming of the APPG for Radiotherapy alongside Pat Price and Sarah Quinlan MBE from Radiotherapy UK Met with Members of the House of Lords on frozen pensions If you have any questions about the new environment in Westminster, or would like to speak to a member of our team please do get in touch at hello@tendoconsulting.co.uk

  • Last week, the King's Speech marked the State Opening of Parliament, presenting the first King's Speech under a Labour government in 74 years. This historic moment introduced 40 bills aligned with the Labour Party's general election manifesto's five key missions. Among these bills, the Cyber Security and Resilience Bill and the Digital Information and Smart Data Bill stand out in the technology sector. Notably, this is the first instance where 'cyber' is explicitly mentioned in the title of primary legislation. However, the anticipated AI regulation was conspicuously absent. Although the King's Speech referenced AI legislation, no specific Bill was announced, leaving the future of AI regulation uncertain, as we had predicted in our Tech & Cyber Policy Outlook. Overall, the government's agenda for fostering growth through innovation and enhancing the UK's cyber resilience has been well-received by many in the sector. Now, more than ever, it is crucial for businesses in the tech and cyber sectors to engage with government and officials. As the government advances its legislative priorities, ensuring the sector's voice is heard is paramount. This period presents numerous opportunities for meaningful dialogue with government officials, advisers, and ministers. At Tendo, our cyber team is here to keep you informed on the latest key legislative priorities in the tech and cyber landscape. Learn more in our Tech Policy Outlook: [Tendo Tech Policy Outlook](https://lnkd.in/e58K_BGE) If you're wondering how your organisation should navigate this busy period, feel free to reach out to Daniel Laing or Beatriz Serra, or email us at hello@tendoconsulting.co.uk. #cybersecurity #infosec #unitedkingdom #UK #AI #airegulation #AI #kingsspeech #tech #cyber

Ahead of the King's Speech tomorrow, there hasn't been much trailed on the health front. Press reports indicate that the smoking ban will be back, and there are vague indications that a mental health bill might be included as well. Perhaps the lack of health policy is indicative of the wide-reaching NHS review that Secretary of State Wes Streeting has asked Lord Darzi to complete. This review, along with ongoing work, is expected to culminate in a 10-year plan for the NHS, which will be published next year. While those in the health space may desire a long list of health policies to analyse, the DHSC appears to be taking its time—Getting It Right the First Time, you might say. So, before the timeline (and the papers) fill up with policy announcements in tomorrow's speech, it's worth quickly reviewing what we know about the direction of health policy so far. If you want a PDF copy of the document below, or if you want to chat about how your organization can take advantage of the changes in government, please get in touch!

With so many policy announcements, major speeches, and even a NATO summit, it's hard to believe we're only one week into the new Government. MPs have only just finished being sworn into office, and we haven't yet had the King's Speech to announce the Government's top policy priorities. Things are moving at lightening speed, but if you're working in the health policy space don't worry, as Tendo's health team has you covered on the latest developments. And to help contextualise the rapid-fire health announcements so far, they've also given some analysis to help put these announcements into perspective. If you're wondering how your organisation should be navigating this busy period, be sure to get in touch with Daniel Laing or Willy Morris, or you can email hello@tendoconsulting.co.uk
