ADHD is often misunderstood, but raising awareness can help change perceptions and provide better support for those affected. While many people know about the challenges of attention and hyperactivity, there’s so much more to ADHD. As we enter the last week of ADHD Awareness Month, let’s take a moment to explore some lesser-known facts: 🔍 Did you know? - ADHD isn’t just about hyperactivity: Some individuals, especially adults and girls, may have inattentive ADHD, where daydreaming, forgetfulness, and difficulty focusing are more prominent than hyperactivity. - Time blindness: Many people with ADHD struggle with the concept of time, leading to difficulty in estimating how long tasks will take or being late frequently. - Hyperfocus: While it’s hard to concentrate on some tasks, individuals with ADHD can enter a state of hyperfocus on activities that deeply interest them, losing track of time. - Emotional regulation: ADHD often impacts emotional control, leading to heightened sensitivity or difficulty managing frustration, which can affect personal relationships. 🎯 Coping Strategies for ADHD: - Break tasks into smaller steps: Tackling one piece at a time helps avoid feeling overwhelmed and boosts productivity. - Use time-management tools: Alarms, calendars, and apps can aid in staying on track and managing “time blindness.” - Create structured routines: Consistent schedules help ease transitions between tasks and reduce forgetfulness. - Practice mindfulness: Mindfulness techniques can help reduce impulsivity and improve focus in the moment. - Seek professional support: Therapy and coaching tailored to ADHD can provide guidance and tools to manage challenges more effectively. At The ADHD Clinic, we’re dedicated to helping individuals better understand and navigate ADHD. Let's work together to increase awareness, reduce stigma, and empower those with ADHD to thrive. #ADHDAwarenessMonth #ADHDsupport #ADHDStrategies #MentalHealth

The service faces overwhelming demand, with wait times extending beyond 10 years for new applicants. This pause highlights the immense need for improved access to adult ADHD assessments, a concern affecting nearly 200,000 adults across the UK. Dr. Chris Hosker, the trust’s medical director, emphasised the need to prioritise those with the highest clinical need while working on sustainable solutions. At The ADHD Clinic, we understand how important timely diagnosis and support are. We stand with the community and are committed to raising awareness about the challenges of ADHD and supporting individuals on their journey to proper care. #ADHD #MentalHealth #NHS #ADHDAwarenessMonth #ADHDSupport https://lnkd.in/e2uuU5hM

🌟 October is ADHD Awareness Month! 🌟 ADHD often comes with many misconceptions and what you see isn't always the full picture. The surface-level behaviours like tantrums, forgetfulness or disorganisation can mask the emotional struggles that individuals with ADHD face daily. ❄️ Just like an iceberg, much of what goes on with ADHD is beneath the surface, hidden from view. While someone may appear to be overreacting or undisciplined, they might be feeling overwhelmed, anxious or rejected underneath. At The ADHD Clinic, we strive to provide clarity and understanding, offering tailored support and diagnosis to ensure individuals with ADHD feel heard, respected and empowered. Let’s work together to break the stigma and deepen our empathy for those living with ADHD. #ADHDAwarenessMonth #ADHD #MentalHealth #Support #BreakTheStigma #Neurodiversity #ADHDClinic
