I’ve always lived for the thrill of the chase. I love the relationship building aspect of #businessdevelopment but I won’t lie, I LOVE THE WINS! Back in the day as a rookie BD the new biz wins were celebrated, but not like they are today. In the ‘90s and noughties, relationships triggered, built and lovingly nurtured by the BD gang were long forgotten when the agency rang the pitch winning bell and were way beyond recall when the resultant creative campaigns were collecting industry accolades. Where was the BD gang then? I'll tell you...we were back in the office or out in the field, networking to usher the next wave of opportunities into the pipeline. These days, things are thankfully different. Agency wins are celebrated as a team, the BD gang is included. More than that, they’re increasingly spearheading agency growth in whole new departments and many are on the board. They're bringing the whole agency with them to share the wins and amend a past lacking in inclusivity.
