Moving home can be a frightening prospect at any time. But with the clocks going back and the nights drawing in, if you hear a 'bump in the night' (or at any time during your move) let's hope it's not a box full of your fragile possessions being dropped by the guys from the pub who have a van and will do the job for cash! So, with Hallowe'en* this week make sure to choose a Member of the British Association of Removers to help you with your move and avoid it becoming a horror story! You'll be engaging an experienced, professional mover who adheres to a Code of Practice, and through their BAR Membership you'll also benefit from advanced payment protection and a free dispute resolution in the unlikely event that you need it. Don't be tricked this Autumn, make your move a treat! About us
The British Association of Removers (BAR) is the only trade association in the removals sector who protects consumer interests. It was formed in 1901 to promote excellence in the Removals Industry. Ever since, the Association sets professional standards for the moving and storage industries through its Code of Practice. BAR Members are the UKs leading professional removal and storage companies, and specialise in all aspects of removals throughout the UK and Europe, plus international and commercial relocations. For over 100 years, the British Association of Removers has been the recognised voice of the professional moving and storage industry in the United Kingdom. Its members carry out some 400,000 moves within the UK and worldwide each year. If you are moving in the UK, overseas, in Europe or if you are relocating your offices, search for a BAR Member, and ‘Look for the badge’!

Moving home yourself in Summer can seem like an adventure! Long, warm days, everything dry and friends happy to pitch in and help out, with a cold drink to celebrate once it's done*. In Autumn and Winter though, when the weather is more likely to be wet, freezing cold, icy or even snowing it's no joke. For little more than the cost of van hire, time off work and the hours spent scouring the supermarkets for empty boxes that will collapse at the first hint of rain you could be engaging the services of a professional BAR mover who will carry out your move with no fuss. What's more they'll be fully insured, have all the right equipment (including floor protection and covers for your goods) as well as vehicles designed specifically to protect all your belongings in transit. They'll be fully trained and experienced in wrapping and protecting the most fragile item to the most awkward and heavy. Choose a BAR Member for your move and you won't be standing in the rain looking at the shattered remains of your prized flat screen TV that slipped out of your hands, and nor will you be off to the osteopath for a series of appointments to get your back 'fixed' after carrying half a ton of boxes and furniture down one set of stairs and up another. And, if you're not entirely satisfied with your move you have the option of using a free, independent, government-approved dispute resolution service which all Members sign up to as part of their adherence to the BAR Code of Practice. So next time you're moving, for your own peace of mind look for the badge. The Removers Benevolent Association (RBA) is the only dedicated charity for the removals & storage industry. Established in 1900, the charity was set up to provide financial relief for those in need (including their widows and dependents) who are, or have been, engaged continuously for a minimum period of two years by a current Member of the British Association of Removers (BAR). The RBA relies on donations, fundraising events and investments in order to continue to provide support for those people in need and we thank everyone who supports our charity in whatever way they choose. If you are organising a fundraising event please consider the RBA as your charity of choice. A fundraising page can be set up or donations made via our Just Giving page at https://ow.ly/iHb550STyXT.
