Once again supported by BT, #TheTour2024 will visit twenty three different towns and cities, visiting small businesses, going behind the scenes and meeting the people running them, to shine a light on their invaluable contribution to local communities and the wider UK economy. It was powerful to see what happens when you bring the business leaders of 15 of some the largest independent retailers together for a few days. I chaired and facilitated several workshops and meetings this week and witnessed how these business leaders can work collaboratively to create a handful of projects the CMJ will support and coordinate, all of which will ultimately elevate their individual businesses beyond a level they would have potentially achieved on their own. It is part of the CMJ’s strategic roadmap to group independent retailers into groups of specific profiles so that not only can the CMJ bespoke the support it provides clusters of similar businesses, but these businesses can learn from and support each other. The projects and initiatives confirmed after our two days of workshops this week were testament to this strategic objective. We’ll drive these projects over the coming months and monitor the commercial gains that follow. A great effort from everyone involved.

A few shout outs from me. First of all to Ben Massey and his team at the National Association of Jewellers for hosting a fantastic industry awards event. A great evening was had, well done to you all. Secondly, I was honoured to be able to present an award on behalf of the CMJ's newest partnership following our sponsorship of Safergems in recognition of the tremendous work they do across our retail sector. And finally, and by no means least, I was delighted to announce that Sandra Brown from Jeremy France Jewellers, a CMJ retailer, had one Salesperson of the Year! Well done Sandra!
