We are looking forward to welcoming a range of speakers to our National Conference next week, including Alex O'Leary of JMW Solicitors LLP who is a corprate lawyer and also a specialist adviser to search funds. Alex will be presenting to an audience of accountants and corporate financiers, who specialise in advising owner managed businesses on exit planning, marketing their businesses for sale and buy-side transactions for growth. Kirsty McGregor, Chairman and Founder of The CFN, commented “I am delighted to be welcoming Alex and JMW to speak to our member firms. With so much activity going on at present, it will be useful to hear the latest issues on transactions from a legal perspective, and from someone as experienced as Alex.” If you would like to hear about businesses which The CFN is marketing for sale, you can view their latest newsletter and subscribe for future issues, by following the links below. Our Founder and Chairman Kirsty McGregor will be one of the experts speaking at "September Fest" this week on a topic which is on all advisers' minds.
Supporting Accountants to drive growth. Founder of The CFN. Accountant-in-Residence at advisory platform Capitalise. Speaker & Accounting International Personality of the Year 2021.
Looking forward to presenting on this in an hour as part of CPDStore UK's "September Fest". Whilst the two major headlines today about the Chancellor signing a deal with Amazon Web Services and Tata Steel closing a plant may seem like all 'Big Co' stuff, the impact on their supply chain, thousands of owner managed business clients just like yours, could be immense. Some welcome and some challenging. I think there is going to be quite an overhaul in many areas of business with this new Government, so I look forward to sharing my current expectations - and hearing what others think too. Over the past few weeks we have shared a number of case studies which are part of a White Paper this month, written by the founders of The CFN and MarktoMarket. It's time for our final case study, but it's a good one! Dyke Yaxley Chartered Accountants always had a reputation for providing corporate finance advice, ahead of their time, with some very commercial partners and directors over the years. Mark Bramall took on the mantle for corporate finance as a young newly appointed manager (several years ago now!) and since then he has grown his portfolio and fees so much that he now has 3 working full time in the corporate finance and advisory team. This includes the fantastic Sarah Hartshorn, who we are grateful has been willing to be profiled as part of this series. If you have enjoyed reading this case studies, please watch out for the White Paper coming soon. And do reach out if you would like to be part of this fantastic network of accountancy firms who are all providing an amazing breadth of expert advice to their OMB clients.

Coming soon! A White Paper written by the founders of The CFN and MarktoMarket about how to grow corporate finance in accountancy firms. As part of this publication, several member firms of The CFN have been profiled as case studies. MDH - Accountancy & Business Growth Specialists is a true success story. Michael Hemme is a sole practitioner who is growing his firm at a rate of knots! Corporate finance fees are playing a huge part in that, despite him only delivering corporate finance services for the past 2 years. Read more about how he is achieving this.

The programme and activities for the 33rd National Conference of The Corporate Finance Network has been published. This time at Utilita Bowl and Hilton Southampton - Utilita Bowl, we are delighted to hold our first conference in the county of Hampshire, where we have several local member firms with offices Shaw Gibbs, LEES Accountants & Johnston Wood Roach. This unique day for OMB corporate financiers, includes a programme which brings together the usual mix of technical training, business development ideas and practical tools to take back to the office. We know that a day away from the office is a large investment, but we are proud that our firms tell us the content always delivers plenty of inspiration and new ideas for them, so that they return to the office re-invigorated and motivated. With a busy season expected in corporate finance this Autumn & into 2025, this programme should deliver once again! If you would like more information, contact Kirsty McGregor. Thanks to Kroll and Capitalise for their ongoing support, as well as all the speakers for presenting and sharing their expertise.

Here's another case study from one of our member firms, which will form part of a collaborative White Paper between MarktoMarket and The CFN, to be published in September. So watch this space! In the meantime, do enjoy reading about Albert Goodman who have built a fantastic corporate finance team over the past few years under the leadership of Neil Hutchings.
