I chaired a fascinating panel this morning at The Digital Commonwealth Mansion House summit on behalf of Unblocked looking at the impact of the US elections on the digital asset industry. It seems that whatever happens - and it sure is a close race - the outlook for #crypto and #digitalassets will likely be more positive. My fellow panellists - Laura Navaratnam of Crypto Council for Innovation, David Song of Global Counsel, Sean Kiernan of Greengage and Sophia Shluger of PV01 spoke about the prospects of a new stablecoin bill after the election, a likely new SEC chair to replace Gary Gensler and the need for the US to clarify the ongoing debate about securities v commodities. While Trump is clearly anti #CBDC, Harris’s position on Central Bank Digital Currency is less clear. A lot more was packed into in the brief 30 mins but suffice to say it is a sign of the maturation of the industry that concerns around crypto and, indeed, crypto donations have played such a big part in the race. Glad that the Digital Pound Foundation and our partners at Global Counsel are able to be participants in these discussions to understand how the political and policy debates are advancing.
