Supporting The Fountain Centre this August! This month, we're proud to shine a light on The Fountain Centre, one of our Charities of the Year. Nestled within the Royal Surrey Hospital, the Fountain Centre is an independent charity that provides essential support to cancer patients and their families, offering information, support, complementary therapies and psychological support to anyone affected by a cancer diagnosis in Surrey and the surrounding areas. They also have a Family Support Service which offers one to one counselling for children and young people under the age of 18, as well as guidance and support for parents whose children might not want to access counselling. This is all provided by a bank of volunteers who donate their time each week to help cancer patients. The Centre has a relaxed and calming atmosphere and is also lucky to have a serene garden where patients and their families can find peace at difficult times. We're excited to get involved with some fundraising and support for this wonderful Charity. In the office, we hosted an Olympic-themed sweepstake - Congratulations to our winners, Kathryn S, Vicky W and Chris! We raised £300 and all funds raised will go directly to support the Centre's invaluable work. What's more, our team is contributing to the Centre's wish list, providing much-needed items for their patients. 🌟 Celebrating a Decade of Coaching at The Fountain Centre! 🌟 Meet Andrew Parsons, our first ever coach at the Fountain Centre who started it all. "I first came across coaching in a professional context as a client. It really helped me. I found it so helpful that it led me to build my own coaching skills to develop as a scientist and business leader. I had been working as a professional coach and hypnotherapist for a few years before meeting the team at the Fountain Centre. As a coach I had seen first-hand the beneficial impact of coaching on people's personal and professional lives. I could see the value it could bring for people navigating challenges, especially cancer. Meeting the team at the Fountain Centre was a real opportunity to create an innovative coaching service to help people become empowered, in the moment and actively taking part in their lives. Cancer turns people’s life upside down. Coaching can support development of coping skills, re-set relationships and help them define and design what is next, whatever their situation." Our very own Natalie Silverdale spoke at Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust cancer centre on concepts and importance of integrative oncology, patient centred evidence informed services such as those provided by the Fountain Centre, that are used alongside conventional cancer treatment to support the mind, body and spirit of people navigating a cancer diagnosis. An interesting group of talent individuals!
