Empowering and inspiring girls aged 14-19 by connecting them to a mentor and network of role models who are women.
About us
The Girls’ Network aims to inspire and empower girls aged 14-19 from the least advantaged communities by connecting them to a mentor and a network of positive role models who are women. MENTORS Mentoring is an amazing way to share your experience and skills with a girl that might not benefit from this support otherwise. It is also a great way to show a teenage girl that you believe in her and she is worth investing time in. This is a powerful combination, and one that we have seen transform the lives of girls and young women again and again. We are looking for women who have had experience of the workplace, who have time and willingness to support a girl from one of the least-advantaged communities across the country, and who want to support a girl to overcome obstacles and seize opportunities. We ask our mentors for a commitment of at least one hour a month, over the course of the year. Visit our website to apply. SCHOOLS Do you work with 14-19 year old girls? Are some of the girls that you work with eligible for pupil premium? Could they benefit from a dedicated mentor? If so, then we could help! We will match your students with an inspiring professional, who will support them over the course of an academic year. Alongside this mentoring, we also provide access to high quality workshops, exclusive networking opportunities and work experience that girls may never have had access to otherwise. CORPORATES We partner with corporates in a number of ways, from training your female staff to mentor and matching them with a teenager in London, to one-off workshops giving you a chance to share insight into your company with young talent from harder to reach communities.

Our Ambassador Community is made up of girls and young women who have completed their mentoring journeys. Through this girl-lead community they continue to benefit from being part of our network and are invited to events, workshops and development opportunities. We offer them support and guidance for as long as they need in their early careers. Each month they write blog posts about the opportunities and events that they have enjoyed through the community. Sometimes to share something that's important to them with the wider community, and sometimes so that they can tell other ambassadors what they learned from one of our workshops or events. They're a great opportunity for girls to get some writing experience too. Take a look at our website to see them all - recent highlights include Ocean's account of the Enterprise careers clinic she attended and Maddie's journey through education and her early career: https://ow.ly/pGem50U0yAF

💫It was so wonderful to be invited to talk to Christie and Rosanna, founders of the beautiful jewelry chain Otiumberg about our mission to inspire and empower girls to believe in their #UnlimitedFutures as we embark on a new partnership together. 🫶We are incredibly grateful to them and all of our wonderful partners for seeing the value in what we do and for choosing to support us. We couldn't do what we do without you. 🌟If you are looking to partner with a charity - we would love to talk to you. Our partners support us financially, share skills and resources, support employees to become mentors and become part of our treasured network of women and allies who are making a difference for hundreds of girls each year. https://lnkd.in/dfhcEPSj

🌟We've recently updated our 121 Mentoring resources so that we can better support our mentors and mentees. 📖We now have an amazing journal that is jam packed full of activities, quizzes, discussion points, links and tools to support each mentoring session. 💬These are a few of the questions we suggest mentors and mentees ask each other in session one - to get conversations going and to help them get to know each other. 💫If #NationalMentoringDay has inspired you to become a mentor - please sign up today - or join us for our next Online Info Session on November 7th at 1pm to learn more about what is involved and ask questions :https://ow.ly/k0pQ50TUFor 🫶Thanks to everyone who has contributed to the development of these resources, especially our lovely #Portsmouth mentor Jo from @Engendering Change LTD for her help in writing them. #Mentoring #MentorSupport #MentoringResources

Brilliant words in honour of #NationalMentoringDay from our wonderful mentor Donna Scully - what a lucky mentee to be getting such supportive guidance and insight!
It’s #NationalMentoringDay today & I want to celebrate the huge positive impact mentoring for The Girls' Network has had on me. Here’s a snapshot of follow up texts I’ve had with my 17 year old mentee & how much we are learning from each other. I want to be there to support her, to answer her questions, to learn together &, which makes her laugh, for her to ‘do as I say, not as I’ve done’! She has a lot on her plate both personally & at school at the moment. Big milestones & decisions this year that will shape her life. I wish she didn’t! She said to me recently…….’Donna, are you trying to stop me making the mistakes you did?’. God, yeah, course I am. That said, as Danielle Thornton-Walker told me a while ago, you can prepare your children for the path but you can’t prepare the path for them. I hope I am helping her prepare for her path. If you haven’t thought of mentoring yet, I hope you do. You won’t regret it & there is a young you out there who could do with some support. #mentoring #support #life #seeitdoit #together

It was amazing to take some of our ambassadors to the Houses of Parliament as part of our Black History Month activities. Girls and young women were invited to meet with Kim Johnson MP, Liverpool's first Black MP. Kim spoke about the challenges she has over come and what has motivated her to work in politics. She advised ambassadors to "use your voice, get involved in your community, and stay informed". She shared her belief that young people have the power to drive meaningful change by advocating for issues they care about, whether that be through community activism, volunteering, or even entering politics themselves. Ambassador Maham said: "Visiting the House of Commons and hearing Kim Johnson speak about her fight for justice was incredibly inspiring. It opened my eyes to the challenges she faced and gave me the hope and motivation to keep pushing for equality in my own community." Read our blog post for more about this brilliant day: https://lnkd.in/eUxynKjF And a huge thanks to Kim and her team for such an inspiring and memorable experience for our ambassadors. 💚 #BHM #BlackHistoryMonth
