  • We catch up with famous gardener and landscape architect Tom Stuart-Smith to talk about the new Jubilee Rehabilitation Garden at Hillingdon Hospital on this week's podcast. Tom has overseen the project alongside colleague Max Harriman to transform the space next to the Jubilee Building and provide an oasis of calm for patients undergoing rehab. On the podcast he talks about he got involved in designing the garden, what it represents, the importance of having green spaces and what he hopes patients will take away from visiting it. https://lnkd.in/ed6Gt68a

  • Our Estates and Facilities Team has once again beaten national competition across the NHS to win both the coveted Team of the Year Award and also bag a runner-up spot in the Efficiency and Innovation Award category in the HEFMA (Health Estates and Facilities Management Association) NHS Awards. This is the 14th national and regional award won by the Trust's in-house Estates and Facilities Team in just seven years and our fourth HEFMA award in that period. The Team of the Year Award was in recognition of our Estates and Facilities senior leadership team, for the success of the restructured team working both as individual subject matter experts, and as a cohesive unit delivering high performing operational services and championing sustainability. Steve Wedgwood, Trust director of operational estates and facilities, said: “Gaining a HEFMA Award is a great accolade as it is given by those that work in NHS Estates & Facilities services. It builds on last year's achievement of the national HEFMA Efficiency and Innovation Award, for the work undertaken by the Estates Team specifically. "Although an award recognising the work of the senior leadership team, it is an award for all estates and facilities staff across both sites and the contribution they make to the Trust and patient care."

  • The new rehabilitation garden at Hillingdon Hospital has moved a step closer with the official launch taking place on Wednesday 27 March. The milestone moment, which was marked by hospital staff members, contractors and members of the local community, comes after months of planning by the Hillingdon Hospitals Charity. The garden will provide an outdoor, therapeutic environment for patients undergoing long-term rehabilitation while also providing a space for enrichment activities and essential time with family and visitors. Shirley Clipp, the charity's major appeals manager, said, "Our vision is to create a beautiful and therapeutic garden for patients facing life-changing events and conditions who often endure longer stays in the hospital."
