An important task often overlooked by business owners is an exit strategy. It has been said that you should have one before you even start up. Contrary to this though, according to one survey by a wealth manager in 2023, about half of business owners confess to not having an exit strategy, while 13% have never even considered one. To learn more about some of the key challenges and considerations when developing your exit strategy, check out our full blog: https://ow.ly/Iuin50TRpKe 23 October 2024

Labour swept to power with the promise of landmark employment law reform in their first 100 days of office. Just before the 100 days were up, the draft Employment Rights Bill was published. Comparing what it says back to the manifesto, much is recognisable. However, a few points have been watered down or postponed for now – and the bill is not expected to be enacted for at least two years. While there will be a slew of consultations before then, and everything remains subject to change, we do have our clearest view yet of Labour’s employment law reforms. Here’s a look at what we now know: https://ow.ly/CWTT50TMrhc 16 October 2024

Burnout is a huge cost to UK businesses… It not only contributes to absence, but dents productivity too, which is why it’s important for you to be aware and try to help employees manage their stress. Here are some quick ideas to get you started: 🌟 Champion time out - Create a culture that promotes regular breaks and unplugging after hours. Even a quick stretch to make a cuppa can reset and refresh the mind. 🌟Set clear boundaries too, such as “no emails after hours”. 🌟Monitor sickness trends - High stress and frequent sickness are red flags for burnout. Spotting any patterns allows for timely interventions like counselling, additional support or health programmes that can make a difference. 🌟Make sure people take their holidays - Don't let employees feel guilty about taking a holiday. Instead, encourage them to use their annual leave to reduce stress and avoid burnout. They'll return relaxed and refreshed, and it shows you care for their wellbeing. HR Software like Breathe will help. Their Burnout Monitor Report provides a visual snapshot of employee sickness or those who haven’t taken holiday. It even sends a quick nudge to encourage them before burn out sets in. If you’d like to discuss Breathe and how it can work for you, please get in touch at swarwickshire@hrdept.co.uk. #BreatheHR #EmployeeWellbeing #Burnout Ewen Bonnyman
