The Julia and Hans Rausing Trust is to be renamed as the Julia Rausing Trust and will double its annual giving target to £100m per year. The announcement was made today at a memorial service for Julia Rausing held at St James's Church, Piccadilly. Over 350 guests were in attendance including representatives from The Princes Trust, Centrepoint, and The National Gallery, all of which have received support from her philanthropy. The Julia Rausing Trust was launched by Hans Rausing in July 2024 in order to make memorial donations in honour of his late wife. Hans has pledged ongoing annual giving through the Julia Rausing Trust of £100m, which doubles the average amount given through the Julia and Hans Rausing Trust, meaning more funding will be available for UK charities and organisations. At today’s memorial service, Orlando Fraser, Chair of the Charity Commission said “Julia leaves a literally incredible philanthropic legacy, having conducted with Hans a massive campaign of giving to British charities since 2014. Julia understood the unique and hugely important role philanthropy can make to society. As John Townsend of the Prince’s Trust has said “Julia was a visionary philanthropist, displaying exceptional generosity to the communities that mattered to her most…I know she would have been enormously proud that her funding will change the prospects of thousands of young people who need her help”. https://lnkd.in/eDZG3SMg

  • The Julia Rausing Trust has today announced its second wave of grants, £30 million to causes supporting Health, Welfare and Education in the UK. This second wave of grants follows the £20 million announced as part of the launch of the Trust earlier in the month.   The new Trust will see £100 million donated to UK charities and organisations in its first year. Commenting on this second wave of grants, Hans Rausing said, “This next £30 million wave of grants has been made in Julia’s name to reflect her passion for supporting young people and those in need. The Prince’s Trust and MediCinema, in particular, were amongst several charitable projects that Julia worked on closely last year to help support their worthy programmes. In total 31 charities are receiving grants in this new wave focused on Health, Welfare and Education. Julia recognised how these charities could reach so many and how they help improve the daily lives of not just those in need but also those providing support.” Previously, the Julia Rausing Trust announced £20 million of donations to charities and organisation in the Arts and Heritage, including £10 million to the Royal Opera House, £5 million to the National Gallery and £1 million to Gloucester Cathedral. https://lnkd.in/epCunrdA

  • The Julia Rausing Trust has today been launched in memory of the late philanthropist Julia Rausing. The new Trust will see £100 million donated to UK charities and organisations in its first year, making it amongst the most significant philanthropic giving funds in the country. The Trust will be funding organisations and projects in three areas: Arts & Heritage; Health & Welfare; and Education. Julia Rausing was one of Britain’s leading philanthropists, driving her philanthropy through the Julia and Hans Rausing Trust for ten years. In that time the Trust made more than 1,000 donations totalling over £330 million. In 2023, the Julia and Hans Rausing Trust granted more than £71 million, its largest year of donations. Hans Rausing said: “The Julia Rausing Trust is a fitting legacy to Julia’s philanthropic vision and has been established to support causes that were close to her heart. “I hope that the Julia Rausing Trust will bring awareness to her generosity, demonstrate the important work philanthropy does, and support causes and organisations which are the backbone of our society.” https://lnkd.in/epCunrdA

  • Celebrating the National Gallery 200th birthday, the façades of the building have undergone a major clean and refurbishment programme. We were delighted to play a part in the building looking its best to celebrate its bicentenary. Gabriele Finaldi, Director of the National Gallery, said, ‘The National Gallery façade on Trafalgar Square is one of London’s most recognizable sights. Julia Rausing encouraged us to undertake the complex task of cleaning and restoring it for the Gallery’s Bicentenary year. We are enormously grateful for Julia and Hans' support and are now immensely proud of our gleaming, elegant façade.’ #NG200 https://lnkd.in/e4dnZuiy

We are pleased to announce grants of £8.7 million to 27 hospices across the UK to help them meet the significant increase in their day-to-day costs, brought about by inflation and high energy prices. Charities and Hospices supported include Sue Ryder and Hospice UK. Julia and Hans Rausing commented: "The rising cost of living has left hospices in a perilous financial position. We know many are receiving fewer or smaller donations than in previous years, so we hope that these grants can be a lifeline, enabling these wonderful hospices to continue providing care and support in their communities across the UK.” You can read more about it here: https://lnkd.in/ecGnzRvn

We are delighted to announce that we have received a donation of £1 million. Philanthropists Julia and Hans Rausing, renowned for their widespread commitment to supporting charitable causes, have contributed £1 million to our Up Against Time appeal. This generous donation, combined with £6.5 million already secured, brings us halfway to the £15 million required to replace our helicopter fleet by 2024. We extend our deepest gratitude to Julia and Hans Rausing and all the individuals, organisations and partners who have rallied behind the Up Against Time appeal. Jonathan Jenkins, CEO, London’s Air Ambulance Charity, said: "The extraordinary generosity of Julia and Hans Rausing brings us one step closer to our vision of bringing in a new generation of helicopters for London. Their contribution is far more than just a numerical figure; it is a donation that will have a profound impact on the lives of those we serve. “As a service funded overwhelmingly by donations, the support of philanthropists like Julia and Hans Rausing is the only way for our charity to continue to provide rapid, life-saving care to those in need across the capital. “We couldn’t be more grateful for their backing and significant commitment of support.
