About us

The Lewis Foundation Charity is a non-profit organization that aims to bring comfort and support to adult cancer patients in hospitals and the community. We do this by sourcing, packaging, and hand-delivering free gift packs to cancer patients, consisting of items that they might find difficult to buy for themselves or simply cannot afford. Cancer treatment can be a difficult and lonely experience, which is why The Lewis Foundation Charity was founded. The founders, Lee and Lorraine, saw first hand through personal experience, the fear, upset, and loneliness that individuals undergoing cancer treatment face, and they wanted to make a real difference. They sourced donations, packaged and delivered gifts for patients on oncology wards, and this led to the creation of The Lewis Foundation in April 2016. Today, The Lewis Foundation has grown to have a team of almost 50 community volunteers, with 70% of them being beneficiaries. They deliver 2000 gifts to 1y hospitals in the Midlands per month, including Northampton General Hospital, BMI Three Shires – Northampton, Kettering Hospital, Bedford Hospital, Luton & Dunstable Hospital, Leicester Royal Infirmary, Nottingham University Hospital, Queen's Medical Centre - Nottingham, and Milton Keynes University Hospital Trust. In the hospital, patients can choose a gift of their choice from a gift list which has 29 different packs that range from toiletries to puzzle books and miniature radios. All the gifts are free, with no donations taken in return. Volunteers from The Lewis Foundation spend time with the patients, providing a friendly face and a listening ear. The Lewis Foundation Charity's mission is to bring comfort and support to cancer patients during their difficult journey, ensuring that they are not alone.

So proud of our team at our charity The Lewis Foundation outlet store at the Luton Point who last night received a Bronze Award for Mystery Shopping at The Luton BID Mystery Shopper Awards, with a score of 73% for a visit that happened in July 2023. At that point the shop had only been open just under 2 months. Opening a shop is daunting let alone in a city your not familiar with, yet the team here have stepped up, supported us, embraced what we are trying to achieve and are fully on board with making it a success. The added bonus is they all passionately care about the fact that the work they do here is giving back to help support cancer patients in their local community. Well done Team Lewis members: Kashver Amir Shadab Ayub Zaheer Ahmed Naheeda Parveen Thank you to Roy Greening, Lavinia Douglass Laura McCluskey Tracey Bateman and everyone at Luton Point and Luton Bid for supporting the outlet to make everything we do possible. If you are Luton do come and visit us in Luton Point on Feast Street next to KFC as we continue to sell brand new items donated my businesses to raise funds to support our of providing gift packs and support to adult cancer patients in hospital. #retail #surplusstock #community #cancer #givingback #luton

EMMA COMPLETES HER HEAD SHAVE AND IS COMPLETING 100KM THIS WEEKEND IN AID OF THE LEWIS FOUNDATION Emma decided to support The Lewis Foundation for the following reason: "On the 12th April 2024, my mum was admitted to Lincoln General Hospital for life saving surgery, following a breast cancer diagnosis. A terrifying and stressful time for everyone, however one of the things she told me made it just a little bit better was a care package from The Lewis Foundation. A simple, act of kindness from complete strangers made a huge difference at a very dark time." Emma and her friend Sam braved the shave last month to show support to Emma's mum, Fiona, who has recently started Chemotherapy for Breast Cancer. On Saturday she will be completing 100km challenge from Putney to Henley following the River Thames. She has already raised over £1200 for our charity, with the total continuing to raise. If you would like to donate to support, visit: https://lnkd.in/ektTUqA2 We wish you the best of luck and thank you for making a huge difference to the lives of those diagnosed with cancer.

It has been so lovely to receive phone calls, messages and emails about how the work we do makes an impact following a cancer diagnosis. Having a recipient ring you to express their gratitude regarding the work The Lewis Foundation is doing for cancer patients especially the packs for cancer patients as they are going through treatment herself, is exactly what motivates us to do what we do. Thank you to everyone who contributes in whatever way they can to make the work that we do possible. As these testimonials show, they really do make a difference. How can you support us? Donate (One-off or monthly) - https://lnkd.in/e9DeUV4F Buy an item from our gift list, which will make its way straight into a pack - https://lnkd.in/eVUuZanA Share this post to spread awareness of our work
