About us

The Lewis Foundation Charity is a non-profit organization that aims to bring comfort and support to adult cancer patients in hospitals and the community. We do this by sourcing, packaging, and hand-delivering free gift packs to cancer patients, consisting of items that they might find difficult to buy for themselves or simply cannot afford. Cancer treatment can be a difficult and lonely experience, which is why The Lewis Foundation Charity was founded. The founders, Lee and Lorraine, saw first hand through personal experience, the fear, upset, and loneliness that individuals undergoing cancer treatment face, and they wanted to make a real difference. They sourced donations, packaged and delivered gifts for patients on oncology wards, and this led to the creation of The Lewis Foundation in April 2016. Today, The Lewis Foundation has grown to have a team of almost 50 community volunteers, with 70% of them being beneficiaries. They deliver 2000 gifts to 1y hospitals in the Midlands per month, including Northampton General Hospital, BMI Three Shires – Northampton, Kettering Hospital, Bedford Hospital, Luton & Dunstable Hospital, Leicester Royal Infirmary, Nottingham University Hospital, Queen's Medical Centre - Nottingham, and Milton Keynes University Hospital Trust. In the hospital, patients can choose a gift of their choice from a gift list which has 29 different packs that range from toiletries to puzzle books and miniature radios. All the gifts are free, with no donations taken in return. Volunteers from The Lewis Foundation spend time with the patients, providing a friendly face and a listening ear. The Lewis Foundation Charity's mission is to bring comfort and support to cancer patients during their difficult journey, ensuring that they are not alone.

It has been so lovely to receive phone calls, messages and emails about how the work we do makes an impact following a cancer diagnosis. Having a recipient ring you to express their gratitude regarding the work The Lewis Foundation is doing for cancer patients especially the packs for cancer patients as they are going through treatment herself, is exactly what motivates us to do what we do. Thank you to everyone who contributes in whatever way they can to make the work that we do possible. As these testimonials show, they really do make a difference. How can you support us? A huge thank you to 2 fantastic teams from Nationwide in Northampton who have gifted their time to help support the work that is happening at The Lewis Foundation. Together, we prepared the gift packs and packaged them ready for the hospitals. It was great to see the teams dive in and get involved in every aspect of the process. Thank you for taking a day out of work to support us! There’s so much behind-the-scenes work that goes into making our mission possible, and we’re truly grateful for your support. A massive thank you to Natalie who organises and leads these sessions, which takes a lot of work. Thank you for getting everything organised and ensuring all the packs were completed.
