The Line Animation is getting a glow-up! We’ve been grafting hard behind the scenes to give our brand a fresh coat of paint, and it’s now ready for the world to see. Say hello to our brand-spanking new revenge-body website! You’ll notice a cleaner, sharper feel across everything we do. Our brand refresh marks a moment in time where we’re pushing even further than we have before. Our Entertainment department is firing on all cylinders and The Line is evolving. Animation is in our DNA, but the future is also about so much more. Games, interactive projects, long-form originals—it’s all on the table, and we’re coming for it. We’re an animation studio with big ideas
About us
We’re an animation studio run by animators. Which might sound obvious, but it’s actually pretty rare. It means our priority is always the quality of the work. No middle men. No meetings about meetings. Our studio’s in East London but our crew’s from all over: Norway (Hei). Japan (Kon'nichiwa). Even Sussex (um … Hi). Our obsession specialism is 2D animation, but we’re most hyped when we’re making stuff that we haven’t been asked to make, like games, series and interactive experiences. So far we’ve racked up a bajillion views, 7 Vimeo Staff Picks and a BAFTA...nomination *gunfingers*. It’s a decent start, but we’ll only be happy once we’ve broken the internet

Shout out to Jacob Matthess who completely nailed this animation! This shot was entirely hand-animated with no background painting or 3D elements, Here’s where the floor falls away from our heroes and they plummet down into the world of the game. Three years ago today, we released our Mercedes Maybach commercial for Mercedes and we're still immensely proud of it! The Maybach is the fanciest car they've got so we were flattered by the opportunity to say the least! Our film tells the story of the Maybach's history through a sequence of living paintings by Ignasi Monreal. Director: Sam Taylor Producer: Eva Dahlqvist Illustrator: Ignasi Monreal Storyboards: Louis Kynd Animation: Marlene Beaube, Elodie Xiea, Phuong Nguyen Key frame & BG Paint: Eido Hayashi #MercedesMaybach #THELINE

In 2021, we created this solar-punk optimistic future piece for Chobani. This one was directed by Bjorn and it all kicked off with asking one question - 'What if we created a future for ourselves that was full of optimism and positivity?’ We’re still massively proud of this piece with it’s delicate animation, beautifully crafted backgrounds AND a completely unique score by long-time Ghibli composer (and absolute legend) Joe Hisaishi (yeah, we can’t believe this happened either). We are in our FINAL week of production for the short film we're making in collaboration with Warframe: 1999!!! We absolutely cannot wait to share the final result with you all but as a little teaser - this mammoth background is something you'll see in several shots. We created multiple layers of ground, switching the layers in and out being led by the needs of each shot and distorting it for shots where the speed needed enhancing. We were able to achieve the really specific goals we had for each shot, just using this BG. We were extremely lucky to work with Simon S. Andersen, the creator and artist behind the game "Owlboy," to create the authentic pixel art video game we see on TV. When we asked Simon if he would like to animate a pixel game section for the project, his answer was, “Why don’t we make it a game?” He actually built and programmed an interactive game, recreating "The Corkscrew," one of the most famous turns on the real Laguna Seca track. So the video you see in the film is a recording of him actually playing the game! The level of detail is insane, from the Integra Type S to the inclination of the track, and the spectators on the roadsides. It’s just so legit! We love it so much that we decided to present the piece full size with no modifications for you guys to appreciate in all its glory! This sequence tells us the story of how the team has became famous, by looking at all the crazy things they have accomplished, trophies, merch even a video game. We wanted to feature Chiaki, P and Nobu, but without cutting away from the messy corner at the garage, so we decided to show them on TV while being interviewed for a show, even when they only appear for few seconds we tried to make sure we could showcase their distinctive personalities Client: Acura/ Mullen Lowe Storyboard: JuanPe Arroyo Background Layout: Igor Piwowaczk, Eido Hayashi, JuanPe Arroyo, Pauline Mauvière, Background: Igor Piwowaczk, Eido Hayashi, Daniel Converio, Juancho Crespo Character Layout: JuanPe Arroyo Animation: (Pixel art) Simon S Andersen, Jacob Matthess, Simone Cirillo Cleanup & Colour: (Pixel art) Simon S Andersen, Daniel Morales, Hannah Judd Compositing: Natasha Z Francis, Skye van der Walt #ACURA #ChiakisJourney #THELINE
