Our technology & innovation peer group enjoyed a thought provoking visit to JJ Smith & Co (Woodworking Machinery) Ltd yesterday, hosted by their Robotic and Automation Project Manager Mark Lee and expertly facilitated by Philippa Glover.   Mark delivered an insightful presentation on how JJ Smith have successfully developed and deployed robotics systems for the woodworking sector.   Some of the key takeaways were:   💡 Consider various applications as each task comes with its own set of product and process complexities.   💡 Evaluate all key factors such as safety, speed, material handling, quality control, and pre-processes.   💡 Start small and focus on the low-hanging fruit tasks that are simple and repeatable to demonstrate investment.   💡 Adapt as you go and be prepared to shift between ideas as you assess whether a job is repeatable or has the potential to evolve as part of your wider automation strategy.   💡 Demonstrate success first by starting with a simple, effective tasks, prove that it works then build from there.   If your passionate about technology and innovation and would like to connect with like-minded individuals click on the link in the comments to register for a free taster session. #manufacturersalliance #technology #innovation #peergroup

Last week, our Cheshire peer group enjoyed a fantastic visit to Hosokawa Micron Limited hosted by their Technical Operations Director Kathryn Hipkins. Kathryn delivered an insightful presentation on sustainability, sharing how they are progressing towards their ambitious goals. The group were taken on a site tour where they were given a closer look into the best practices that Hosokawa Micron have implemented and provided invaluable feedback on what they could see working well and observations for potential improvement. In the afternoon, Kerry Leigh led a thought provoking workshop on mental health, wellbeing and stress, sparking important discussions on how we can we can look after ourselves and create a healthy culture. Our next Cheshire peer group meeting will be hosted by Unette on the 12th November.
