This is Alex's story. This shows the impact of your support. This is why we do what we do. In Alex's own words 🔥 “That is insane”! 🔥 He's a total Muscle Warrior! Hear what he and his mum Jeanette had to say about the charity’s recent flagship Porsche Muscle Dream programme that saw 9 young people with muscular dystrophy not only participate in a once-in-a-lifetime experience but also mix it up with other young people with the same condition. Alex’s nomination blew us away. We know that he loves fast cars! We know he loves music (The Beatles). We know he loves football and food. And we know that he’s obsessive about the LEGO Group 😘 Sometimes words can really move and inspire people. Be sure you listen in to what Alex’s mum (Jeanette) had to say about her sons muscular dystrophy, that its “an inconvenience, not a lifestyle”! #wisdom In their nomination that included a short video of Alex talking about his love of cars, the family said: "We are nominating Alex to show him that he is not alone in his quest to live a full and exciting life, that there are others, just like him, who rise to the challenge. This is Sulaiman's story + an Easter message... 12 years ago... we received a nomination for its London 2012 'Games Inspired Muscle Dreams Programme' from a 27yr-old man called Sulaiman. Doctors told his parents that their son was unlikely to live past 5yrs. The rest is history ~ this is Sulaiman's story. From a phone call that in Sulaiman's own words 'changed my life' to being selected to participate, his story is all about #possibility, seizing opportunities, heartbreaking loss, powering through grief, celebrating #difference, smashing down barriers, building lasting friendships, and breathing a #purposeful life. And from an immersive experience that saw paralympic athletes at the top of their game, living their best lives through sport, Sulaiman's story speaks volumes about wheeling through life as a disabled man. The Muscle Help Foundation is the #charity that tackles the isolating and all-consuming nature of Muscular Dystrophy (MD) for children, young people, and their families. From the moment a child with the muscle wasting condition Muscular Dystrophy (MD) turns 8yrs, parents often realise just how precious time with their child is. Our #vision is a world of hope, purpose, inspiration, and empowerment for all children with MD and their families. To date, we have delivered over 520 transformational ‘Muscle Dream’ experiences. Our mission is to deliver 657 – one for every muscle in the human body. These experiences have been proven to give children and their families hope. In the words of one young person, these bespoke interventions ‘catapult them back into a life of possibility’.
