North East Mayor Kim McGuinness today hailed Skills Bootcamps as a key plank of her ambition to make the region the home of real opportunity, empowering people to learn new skills and find the right career for them – as well as supporting local companies to retrain employees. The North East Combined Authority is offering thousands of adults the opportunity to learn new skills with the launch of a £17 million Skills Bootcamp programme. The programme will span a wide range of courses in subjects such as hospitality, digital marketing and cyber security, as well as low carbon heating, green technologies such as offshore wind and retrofitting, and rail engineering. 🚀We’ll make the North East the home of real opportunity. Space is creating great jobs at every level with a Space North East England plan for 10,000 here by 2030. It was great to hear about the scale of what can be achieved from space from Elaine Scott. In #WorldSpaceWeek we want young people to reach for the stars. Thanks Linda Conlon and the amazing team at International Centre for Life for showing them the possibilities.
