Anne Cullen reflects on a powerful #SchwartzRound she recently observed at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust that covered the hidden struggles of neurodivergent health and care professionals. This #ADHDAwarenessMonth, let’s continue to make our workplaces more inclusive for everyone. Read Anne's blog here 👉 https://lnkd.in/ecD87NJS

We’re looking forward to our Schwartz Community events next month. Both London dates are now full but we still have places in Birmingham on 26 November. If your organisation is running Schwartz Rounds then please make sure you secure your place! Our agenda includes workshops on neurodiversity, maintaining the safety of Schwartz Rounds when there are 'hot topics' to discuss, a facilitator skills masterclass and a keynote from Doctors In Distress. Also lots of opportunities to network with people from other Schwartz sites.

Today is World Mental Health Day 💚 The theme this year is, ‘Mental Health in the Workplace.' For health and care staff, this is a particularly important topic as: 💭 Anxiety, stress, depression and other psychiatric illnesses are the most reported reasons for sickness-related absences. 🩺 1 out of 3 doctors report they are struggling to cope. 🔥 25% of doctors in training are at risk of burnout. 🚑 9 out of 10 ambulance service staff have experienced stress and poor mental health at work. Additionally, distress and mental health remain a top reason reported by staff leaving the NHS. Swift and meaningful action is crucial to safeguard the mental well-being of health and care professionals who deserve to thrive in their workplace. If not, we risk losing them to other professions. Only by caring for staff, are they able to fully care for us. #WMHD

"The focus is not on problem-solving... but rather on creating a space where people can share their feelings and say, ‘that really resonated with me, and this is my experience'" - Denise Turner, Operational Head of Social Work.
