A pioneering performing arts course for young people in care is aiming to break down barriers to help them crack into the industry. The online video course, for anyone in care aged between 13-17, has been developed by The Share Foundation in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire; Tring Park School for the Performing Arts in Hertfordshire and the Rothschild Foundation. Anais Houillet, a dance teacher who features on the course and was in care as a teenager, said she wished it had been offered to her when she was growing up. "I feel grateful to be part of it, and to share what I went through and to let people know it's possible," she said. About us
The Rothschild Foundation continues the philanthropic tradition of the Rothschild family and their longstanding support of arts and heritage. Central to the Foundation’s vision is an ongoing commitment to Waddesdon Manor, one of the last remaining 19th century Rothschild houses. Waddesdon and its unique setting inspires our areas of interest which we explore and develop through grant-making, major initiatives and the promotion of thought leadership and convening. Collaboration and partnerships are an important element of our work, and we engage with a wide variety of academic, cultural, environmental, social and educational institutions, as well as other philanthropic foundations and charities. The Rothschild Foundation has a number of policy areas within which we work. These connect our broader work back to Waddesdon Manor, which remains at the heart of our identity and purpose, and to the Rothschild family tradition of philanthropy and support for the local community. Providing grant funding is one of the ways in which the Foundation supports work within our policy. Much of this is proactive, with the Foundation identifying and working with charities doing exciting work in the areas we wish to support. We are interested in using the freedom that comes with being an independent funder to back new and innovative ideas that address challenges in the fields of arts and heritage, social welfare, education and the environment.
