We love the work we did for the "Invisible House" for ROSEBANK so when we came across this example of a Lake House in Mexico, we had to share! The building is designed around five old trees that were not to be disturbed, carving curves and holes from the floors and ceiling plates to accommodate them.🌴🌳 The house is completely hidden, lost in the slope of the land and leaving only the terraces visible - read more about this fascinating project here 👇 #LandscapeDesign #UrbanDesign https://lnkd.in/dVhy3_WG

"When you are in the business of interpreting people’s visions with the hopes to inspire, Karen’s work not only meets the brief but exceeds expectations. Taking our kernel of an idea and moulding it into something truly meaningful and beautiful." Thank you ROSEBANK for this recommendation!

We're very excited about our latest nature animation. Working with Environment Bank, we have helped them to visualise their largest nature restoration / rewilding project to date. It was a special project and we're so happy to have been trusted to help them communicate this vision. Thanks Ell Powell, Fraser Rutherford Rob Wreglesworth for your support and excitement throughout the process from the early stages of seeing blocky pyramids represent trees and shrubs, to the final version. 💚
Our largest restoration and rewilding project yet! Introducing the 440-acre Bog Hall Habitat Bank, a vast project created in collaboration with the Castle Howard Estate Ltd in North Yorkshire. This 3D visualisation shows what we expect to see over the next 30 years. Our goal is to transform the low-yielding, wet and difficult-to-farm space into a biodiverse mosaic of wetlands, ponds and scrubland where wildlife can thrive. Our specialist ecologists have chosen local plant species to benefit the area and encourage the return of rare native birds including the nearly lost entirely, turtle doves. With a strategic management plan in place, we will introduce sustainable grazing livestock and rewild iconic landscape-shaping species such as beavers, working closely with the Beaver Trust. In total, this project is forecast to almost triple biodiversity in this space. We’re using robust scientific methodologies and advanced data gathering technologies to demonstrate tangible gains for nature. With funding secured in advance for the project's full lifetime, we're now inviting nature-positive businesses to purchase Nature Shares in this project – offering them a share in the significant biodiversity this project is generating. The Bog Hall Habitat Bank is part of England’s fastest growing network of nature recovery projects where Environment Bank has directly channelled private investment into more than 2,500 acres of restoration in just a few short years. Thank you to Abbi, Georgie, Guy, Jasper, Nick, and all the team at Castle Howard for collaborating with us! Credit: Thank you to Karen Gazzard and The Ruby Cube Ltd for the incredible animation. #Biodiversity #Ecology #NorthYorkshire #CastleHoward #NatureShares

This is a really interesting article here from our friends at Environment Bank, exploring how to unlock the full potential of the Biodiversity Net Gain policy, now that we are 8 months in from its introduction. The Labour government has announced an overhaul of the planning system to pave the way for 1.5 million new homes over the next five years and BNG presents a unique opportunity to accelerate development in a way that doesn’t come at the expense of nature. A great interview here with Kongjian Yu, who came up with the original concept of Sponge Cities. Here, he explores how climate change is leading to the creation of a new landscape culture. "Climate change means landscape changes, and vice versa. Landscape architecture literally means the art of transforming and changing landscapes by design. By changing the landscape, you either adapt to or counteract natural processes, and you mitigate or amplify the natural processes that are caused by, or are causing, climate change." #LandscapeDesign #Biodiversity https://lnkd.in/eyM6RUSh

𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 – 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Restore’s ability to ecologically and economically transform large estates and farms, without ever owning them, owes more than anything to the quality and depth of our Vision Reports. These offer landowners a comprehensive roadmap towards ecological and financial restoration of their land, with each entirely bespoke to the landscape, its people, its ecology and the present state of play. Now engaged across the 9000-acre Manor of Rochdale, Restore’s Land Management Director - Ross Wingfield – here explains how a vision report begins: with muddy boots on the ground. These reports for our clients do not gather dust - they have been the gateway to some of our fastest-moving projects, such as the Southill Wildland in Bedfordshire. But it’s critical to begin with vision: everything else follows from this, and invaluable time spent in the field, assessing what is missing – and what the land could become. We're very lucky to collaborate with the talented Karen Gazzard from The Ruby Cube Ltd in creating visualisations of nature restoration of the land from it's current state to a thriving biodiverse landscape. #restorenature #naturerestoration #strategy #vision #environment #nature #generationrestoration #rewilding Eoin Murray Robert Gardner Rich Stockdale PhD
