🌟 Honoured to continue our engagement with GDST (The Girls' Day School Trust) across their various schools. Last week, we had the pleasure of speaking at South Hampstead High School, GDST on critical topics: Exposure to Explicit Material, Pornography, Image Sharing, and their influence on consent, attitudes, behaviours and relationships. For Year 13 students, this is a crucial time to revisit consent as they transition into adulthood, enter new environments and face new pressures. It’s vital for young people to feel empowered in maintaining their personal boundaries and recognising when those boundaries are challenged. 🌍 Socialising, Learning, Parenting, Safeguarding, Teaching, Loving, … all in a DIGITAL WORLD📱👈🏼That’s where we’re at 🤯. So, when it comes to our children, do they really understand the impact of what they’re sharing and saying online? We returned to Phoenix Collegiate, West Bromwich, to focus on, “It’s Just Banter”— with the reality often being more serious; Bullying, Harassment, Hate Crimes, and Child-on-Child Abuse …increasingly driven by online actions. As kids socialise more in the digital space, are they aware of their digital footprint? 👣Do they understand the laws behind their words and actions, and the potential consequences for themselves and others? – It’s important we focus our attention on this. ⚠️ Phoenix year 8 were excellent at expressing their knowledge and how to be respectful online 👏🏼. We’ve had the privilege of visiting The Phoenix Collegiate multiple times throughout the years, and the engagement from students is always incredible. Today, I was at Oxford High School GDST raising awareness of Child Criminal Exploitation and County Lines. This crucial topic deserves urgent attention, especially among young females. We are witnessing a troubling ‘trend’ with an increase in perpetrators targeting girls to take on roles in their criminal movements. This is often driven by sexual objectification, a lower likelihood of police to ‘stop & search’, and a concerning overlap with child sexual exploitation. The digital world further complicates this, with social media providing platforms that glamorise criminal association, and facilitates grooming. Engaging in these conversations is essential for empowering our children to identify exploitation.
