We were delighted to attend the Farnborough International Space Show, an incredible event that brought together the global space community from industry, defence, government and academia. We shared a stand with our colleagues from Space South Central, who are doing outstanding work to raise awareness of Hampshire as a leading force in the sector. It was a fantastic opportunity to have many insightful conversations and strengthen relationships with key collaborators, including Frances Clarke and the Space South Central team. It was also great to see resident companies AccelerComm Ltd and Multiple Access Communications Ltd making the most of the show to expand their networks and explore new collaboration opportunities. Last week, the Catalyst team at Southampton Science Park celebrated the achievements of eight incredible companies who have just completed the prestigious business acceleration programme. Director Lucinda L. praised the programme’s success, highlighting that an impressive 85% of early-stage businesses supported by Catalyst are still trading - a remarkable achievement compared to the national average where 81% of start-ups cease operations. A massive thank you to our dedicated mentors, Philip Sharpe, Adrian Braine, Gary Smith, and David Bream, whose invaluable support has been key to this success. We also want to acknowledge our fantastic partners - Health Innovation Wessex, the National Oceanography Centre, the School of Healthcare Enterprise and Innovation, University of Southampton and Test Valley Borough Council – whose backing has enabled Catalyst to grow and expand to twice-yearly cohorts. The highlight of the event was hearing directly from the graduating companies, who took to the stage to share their journeys and key learnings from the Catalyst experience. Sustainability is at the heart of innovation and we're making a real impact at the Science Park. 🔋 10 buildings across the Park are now powered by solar ⚡ 2,546 solar panels have been installed 🔄 1,126 MWh of clean electricity generated so far 🌍 233 tonnes of carbon saved ☕ That’s enough energy to brew 48 million cups of tea!
