I was totally wrong.🤯 I used to think that we had enough resources globally to go round and for everyone to live a just, equitable and happy life if only the collective and political will was there.🤔 This is in fact scientifically incorrect. ❌ The reality is, now the world’s super consumers are consuming so much we’re losing the ability for everyone to take part.👀 i.e the idea that ‘there’s enough for everyone’ is actually now BS because some people are over consuming. Too much shopping, too much eating, too much travelling and too little sharing. The solution is at city and business level which is why I love business as an agent of change.❤️ We need to learn to look after one another. 🌍 Read this. It’s short, terrifying and yet somehow hopeful piece. https://lnkd.in/eeufqNyb

Hawksmoor renowned for its legendary steaks, may not be the first place you'd think of for planet-friendly dining. However, this steakhouse has undergone a remarkable transformation to become a leader in ethical sourcing and environmental stewardship. In fact, Hawksmoor is now proudly recognized as the world's first carbon-neutral steak restaurant group. Setting an ambitious goal to achieve carbon neutrality by the end of 2022, Hawksmoor surpassed expectations by reaching this milestone a year ahead of schedule. But they're not stopping there—Hawksmoor is committed to further reducing its greenhouse gas emissions and aims to become a Net Zero company by 2030. Taking concrete steps towards sustainability, Hawksmoor has transitioned to renewable electricity in the UK and implemented practices to convert all food waste into biogas, minimizing its environmental footprint. Additionally, the company is prioritizing education by providing staff with training on carbon and climate change, empowering them to contribute to the restaurant's sustainability efforts. Hawksmoor's dedication to ethical sourcing and environmental responsibility is truly commendable, demonstrating that even in the world of epic steaks, it's possible to make a positive impact on the planet. It's a shining example of how businesses can lead the way towards a more sustainable future, and we're excited to see their continued progress in the years to come. #food #foodie #restaurant #sustainable #sustainability #culinary #savetheplanet #earth

Stop Food Waste Day – 24th April 2024 Stop Food Waste Day is an environmental awareness day that seeks to educate and ignite change around the issue of food waste. Food waste is an expensive issue. It’s estimated that 32% cent of all food purchased per year in the UK is not eaten. Food waste also has a significant environmental impact. It’s estimated that half of the water used to produce this food also goes to waste since agriculture is the largest human use of water. Food waste also releases methane gas, a potent greenhouse gas that accelerates climate change, if not disposed of properly. Stop Food Waste Day aims to tackle this issue by helping to halve food waste by 2030. Find useful tips to prevent food waste, and take a pledge on social media to reduce your food waste, using the hashtag #stopfoodwasteday. #savetheplanet #earth #foodwaste #food #foodie #waste #tableware #chemicalfree #homecompostable #compost

The climate crisis disproportionately affects rural Africa, posing a threat to lives and global food security. Despite minimal contributions to the crisis, African farmers bear its brunt, highlighting climate injustice. However, the question remains: What actionable steps can we take? Each of us holds the power to make modest adjustments in our daily lives that collectively reduce our environmental footprint. 1. Visit your local zero waste shop for refills 2. Bring a carrier bag 3. Consider car shares and public transport 4. Have a meat-free day each week 5. Buy and sell second-hand 6. Switch to a green energy provider 7. Spread the word By adopting these changes, we contribute and acknowledge our shared responsibility to address climate injustice.   Let’s work together in creating a greener future! #Sustainability #Sustainable #SavethePlanet #GoGreen #Recycle #Earth #Food #Packaging #PalmLeaf #SavethePlanet
