About us
The World Bee Project CIC is the first independent initiative in the world that uses AI and advanced technologies to monitor pollinator and biodiversity declines from a global perspective to help find long-term solutions to benefit both nature and people, not one at the cost of the other. This is why, in parallel with our pollinator and environmental monitoring work, we focus on the interdependencies between bees and people in the context of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and our pioneering social programmes ‘Celebrating the Right to Life, Food and Shelter for Women in Adversity’ work in areas where conflict and adversity deny women the right to life, food and shelter. Everybody, prioritise bee conservation! Our food security is in jeopardy. Humans are responsible for the decline of pollinators through our destruction and fragmentation of their habitats. But it doesn't stop there! Bees pollinate vital plant species, and their disappearance threatens nature, human health, global social stability, and national economies. Climate change is being driven by fossil fuels —oil, gas, and coal—burnt to generate electricity, releasing carbon dioxide, the primary cause of global warming. 🌍🔥 Fossil fuels also pollute the air, making extreme weather more violent and causing up to 10 million deaths annually. Disturbing findings! Up to 30% of honeybees exposed to common farm pesticides struggle with memory tests. 🧠 Even worse, they develop a dangerous preference for pesticide-contaminated nectar. We must address pesticide usage to protect bee populations and ensure a sustainable future. Bees are not just pollinators—they're nature’s weather forecasters! 🐝🌤️ Research shows that bees use weather patterns to decide when and where to fly, and scientists are now using this behavior to improve weather predictions with cutting-edge technology. But that's not all—these insights could help us understand the future impacts of climate change on pollination and food security.
