✈️ GO FIRST, an Indian airline that declared bankruptcy in May 2023, faces a major hurdle in its potential revival. The Delhi High Court recently ordered the deregistration of all 54 of Go First's leased aircraft, a setback for the airline and a win for the lessors who want their planes back. 💡 This decision stems from a disagreement between Go First and the lessors. When the airline filed for bankruptcy, a moratorium was placed on its assets, including the leased planes. Lessors argued they should be able to repossess their property, but Go First contended that keeping the aircraft was crucial for a potential restart. 💡 The court sided with the lessors. This means Go First must return the planes and cannot operate them in the meantime. The resolution professional, responsible for overseeing the bankruptcy process, can appeal, but an initial request for a delay was denied. 💡 This ruling significantly impacts Go First's potential sale. Though the airline recently received bids from two interested parties, restarting operations becomes difficult without the leased aircraft. Creditors, owed over $743 million, might now favor liquidation over selling the airline as a functioning entity. 💡 The future of Go First remains uncertain. Negotiations between potential buyers and creditors face additional complexities due to the court decision. While some hope for a revival, the return of leased planes and significant debts push Go First closer to potential liquidation. #GoFirst #IndianAviation #India #DGCA #Bankruptcy

🚨 IndiGo (InterGlobe Aviation Ltd), the dominant airline in India, made a power move to challenge Gulf carriers in the international market. This budget carrier placed its first-ever order for long-haul airplanes, aiming to grab a bigger share of international travel. 💡 IndiGo purchased 30 Airbus A350-900s, with deliveries starting in 2027, and holds options for an additional 70. This new fleet will be a game-changer, allowing IndiGo to offer non-stop flights to Europe, North America, and other long-haul destinations for the first time. 💡 This move comes as India's air travel is booming post-pandemic. The number of international travelers in India is expected to skyrocket to 160 million by 2030, from 64 million in 2019. However, foreign carriers currently dominate this market, with companies like Emirates holding a significant share. IndiGo's goal is to change that. 💡 By expanding its network and offering long-haul flights, IndiGo aims to double its total capacity by the end of the decade and become a major player in global aviation. Currently, only 27% of their capacity is deployed on international routes. IndiGo has recently expanded to Africa, West Asia, and Southeast Asia, and is also growing its European presence through partnerships. 💡 Interestingly, IndiGo was initially expected to choose Boeing's 787s for its long-haul ambitions. However, Boeing's production issues and a strategic counter-offensive by Airbus seem to have tipped the scales in favor of the European planemaker. This deal strengthens IndiGo's position and could reshape the landscape of international travel from India. #IndiGo #Airbus #A350 #Boeing #B787 #India

✈️ UK aviation braces for large-scale practice run after ATC meltdown. 🔴 Following a technical glitch that grounded flights and disrupted nearly 750,000 passengers in August 2023, UK aviation organizations are planning a large-scale industry-wide practice run to improve their response to similar disruptions. This comes after a critical report highlighted the lack of coordinated effort during the incident. 🔴 NATS, the air traffic control provider, will lead the rehearsal scheduled for after summer this year. The practice scenario will involve airlines, airports, and regulators, aiming to refine communication and response strategies in case of major disruptions. 🔴 The initiative follows criticism directed at NATS, particularly regarding its on-call engineer practices. Ryanair - Europe's Favourite Airline CEO Michael O'Leary called for NATS' chief executive's dismissal, claiming engineers were unavailable during the crisis. 🔴 NATS defended its approach, stating that while weekday office hours have dedicated on-site engineers, improved remote working systems allow on-call engineers to diagnose and potentially fix problems quicker from home. This flexibility, according to NATS, is an advancement compared to pre-pandemic practices where physically bringing engineers on-site would have caused delays. 🔴 The upcoming practice run signifies the industry's commitment to learning from the August 2023 incident and improving its collective response to future disruptions, aiming to minimize passenger inconvenience and ensure a more efficient recovery process. #NATS #Ryanair #MichaelOLeary #Disruption

✈️ Air India Limited India is finally retiring its Boeing 747-400 jumbo jets. After years of service, the airline has sold all four remaining planes to AerSale, Inc., a US company that deals with used aircraft. 🔴 This marks the end of an era for Air India, which operated various Boeing 747 models for decades. The sale comes after a long effort to find buyers for the retired passenger planes. 🔴 AerSale plans a diverse future for these giants. Two will be given a new lease on life as cargo planes, while the other two will be disassembled for parts. The retirement of the 747-400s signifies the end of an era, but their contribution to Air India's history will not be forgotten. #Boeing #B747 #AirIndia #Jumbo #AerSale

✈️ Four airlines - Lufthansa, Eurowings, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines - are showing their support for Europe in a unique way. In the lead-up to the European elections, they're decorating a total of four Airbus A320s with the message "Yes to Europe." 🔴 These flying ambassadors will criss-cross the continent, with two taking off this week and two more next week. The message will be prominently displayed on the fuselage, framed by the European star symbol. 🔴 This isn't the first time Lufthansa Group has shown its commitment to Europe - they did something similar before the 2019 elections. On May 13th, all four planes will come together at Brussels Airport in a symbolic display of unity. #LufthansaGroup #YestoEurope
