As an almighty army of two (Hamish Rutherford and Alex Ventisei) we’ve combined brains and brawn (ish) to build a core component of floe. High-Quality Space Discovery 💡 We want to make it as easy as possible to find and use spaces in the North East, whether it’s just you or you and your team. This isn’t just another bit of tech, we’re building to gather feedback and collaborate with businesses and spaces. This is at the core of how floe thinks and works! Collaboration is 🔑 In the spirit of this, check out some screenshots of our MVP development! We want to make the ultimate ecosystem map for the North-East and this is our first step. Hi. What’s next for floe??? TLDR; We're building a new technology platform to connect people and spaces. And we no longer operate the Maybrook House building. We'll give more updates on the new tech project and what it actually is! After opening a coworking space in the centre of Newcastle at Maybrook House, so much happened. The community response to floe, and their transformation of what is just a space for people to work in, has been unbelievable! We’ve seen so many successes come through the doors to work in floe. Companies like Grid Finder, who were acquired in a 7-figure deal just a year and a half from their founding by the brilliant Thomas Stapley-Bunten and Nikhil Patel (https://lnkd.in/e3dgBRaw )! Or recently, PolyBox.app, who have successfully raised their £500,000 investment round (https://lnkd.in/eWfRz82U) with inspiring founders Rojin Yarahmadi and Nikolaos B.. Although the headlines show the end-goal success, they don’t show the process which everyone goes through every day to build companies which achieve these things. In the end, much of the work which happens in floe everyday is never reported on! It’s always process which matters in a good workspace, and floe is no different. On the 3rd floor of Maybrook house, the process of working was made fun and collaborative. What’s next?? The process of maintaining a space is not easy, and the time has come for floe to move into a new phase of enabling more fun and collaborative work. To do this we've parted ways with Maybrook House and are focusing on a new project. So what new project? In short, it's a single platform to connect people and spaces in the North-East. We've set out to answer these questions: How do we include and showcase rural workspaces in the future of work? How can we help support the amazing coworking and flexible offices which exist and will exist in the North-East? How can companies offer more flexibility and community to be more attractive to talent? We think the answer is in how we use our workspaces and community, which is why we’re making a tool to make it easier to connect with both. We're calling it the FLOE MAP! Exciting day here! Finally getting the keys to a unit in Eldon Square in the heart of Newcastle to build the exciting new 5G immersive lab with funding from North of Tyne. It's been a long time in the making and we've got some fantastic events to come in the future here in partnership with Sunderland Software City and Digital Catapult. Seeing the inside of these units before all the fresh paint and fixings have gone in really shows how much work it takes to transform a space, but this space is going to look incredible once it's done!
