About us
The Identity Bureau is a naming and branding agency owned by Ben Stanbury. My clients share a common ground; a desire to be deliberately differentiated. So I'm here for the perception shifters and the outside thinkers... and for firms that don't want to look like the other firms... My services include: Brand Strategy Workshops I offer brand strategy workshops designed to give business owners clarity by defining their brand purpose and the 'why' behind their business. Turning complex strategy into 'ah ha!' clarity. Brand Naming Your name is a vital part of your brand. It outlasts everything else. It forms instant perceptions about your company, and, done right, it can lead the way to an interesting and memorable brand identity design. I'll help you formulate a name that's memorable, great to say and easy on the ears. Visual Identity Design For firms that don't want to look like the other firms. Brand identities developed to specifically resonate with the people you're trying to attract (and not just your shareholders!) From logos to colours to font choices, I'll make sure your business is making a great first impression wherever it presents itself. If you're looking to make a human connection with your audience, make yourself known at The Identity Bureau.

How long does it take to design a logo? Longer than you might think... ...because the hard-working logo has a big job to do... 👁 It's the most recognised element of your brand identity (along with your brand name) 🧠 It should be distinctive enough to aid brand recall ◼ It should work in a single-colour 👋🏻 It should be legible in small sizes 🚩 It should try and represent an idea that you want your business to be understood for Designing logos properly takes time. A logo design starts with a pencil and a piece of paper and will usually go through hundreds of sketches and then on-screen iterations to arrive at the final concept. But there's a lot of work to be done before you get to that stage... A logo is just a part of an overall brand identity system, a system that itself can only be approached after strategic questions and groundwork have been completed... which is the strategy part, or the planning part. I often explain to clients that your brand strategy is the foundation on which you can begin to build a brand identity system. It's the Who, Why, What and How of the brand, that you have to understand before you can start to make that strategy visible, and start building that brand perception... So a logo isn't 'the brand', but rather a small but important cog, in a bigger machine of your business, with a big job to do! If you’re interested in the power of #language and #branding, and how they can work together to help your brand, then consider following The Identity Bureau on Linkedin and subscribing to my newsletter ‘Notes from The Bureau’. ------------------------------------- I’m Ben Stanbury, I create #names and brand #identity designs for businesses, #brands and individuals. I own The Identity Bureau, a small, independent naming and branding consultancy. In my spare time, I write short #stories and collect vintage movie posters.

It goes without saying that I have to be happy with a #logo before I show a client, but this one is a personal favourite of mine. I did Brand identity and logo design, plus strapline and brand guidelines for Nick Pauley at Auto Classica Car Storage near Milton Keynes. "The new brand identity design has been exceptionally well-received by both clients and suppliers. Ben's researched-focussed approach got to the root of the issues quickly, delivering what the business truly needed, not just what we thought we wanted."

A name is a vessel to shape and carry your brand A well-chosen brand name will set the stage for everything that comes after it, your visual identity, your brand language, and the impression you make on the people who hear it. It is the first thing a customer will learn about your company and the element of your identity with the most longevity…. Find out more about my naming process over on my website buff.ly/3UdVvEh
