Welcome to this week’s “Humans of RugbyDAO" featuring Graeme Tottle, celebrating the passionate individuals behind our vibrant community. 🏉 Graeme is the Commercial Director at The Rugby Pod and Rugby Rodeo and serves as a trustee of Brave Mind, a mental health charity supporting well-being within the rugby community. His work blends commercial strategy with community impact, driven by his experience in rugby content and initiatives. 𝐐&𝐀 𝐀) 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 ❓ Growing up in the South Wales valleys, I had little choice but to start rugby at age 6. This journey has become a lifelong passion, from playing and coaching youth teams to now working professionally in the sport. I believe rugby today is as good as it has ever been, and while the commercial potential is immense, we must not forget the values that make rugby special: teamwork, camaraderie, respect, and discipline. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that many of us enjoy a social beer! 𝐁) 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 ❓ Though I’ve worked in media for over 25 years, only the last 5 have been in rugby. A few standout moments include: Launching RugbyPass commercial in the Northern Hemisphere, right before lockdown, an enormous challenge, but we built a great team and delivered valuable work for partners. Joining Brave Mind as a trustee to give back. It’s humbling to drive a charity that has a meaningful impact on rugby’s mental health community. Collaborating with The Rugby Pod and the Army, one of the best partnerships I’ve been involved in. Rugby and the Armed Forces share many values, and spending time with multiple divisions and the Army Rugby team was both hilarious and inspiring. The goal was to raise awareness of Army life and recruitment, but the experience was unforgettable. 𝐂) 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐛𝐲 ❓ The potential for rugby’s growth, both in participation (fans and players) and commercially (our audiences are incredible!) is enormous, but we must not squander it! RugbyDAO is a collective of passionate individuals working to ensure rugby evolves into the 21st century while retaining its core values. Our goal is to educate, entertain, and engage, using modern technology to boost fan engagement and bring more commercial partners to the sport. RugbyDAO is perfectly positioned to lead this transformation, and I’m excited to play my part! #RugbyUnion Web3 Sports Ventures

Welcome to this week’s “Humans of RugbyDAO," featuring Sean Verity FCIM, celebrating the passionate individuals who make up our vibrant community. Sean is a leader in marketing, content, and digital strategy, having built and led two digital technology companies and commercially focused teams across sports organisations worldwide. Sean also leads x+y, a team providing data-driven insights and strategies to sports organisations as an outsourced market intelligence department. His career includes collaborations with Google, UEFA, BBC, NHL, NRL, The Premier League, The Football League, YouTube, Red Bull, Premiership Rugby, World Rugby, NBA, ICC, and Paralympics. Q&A A) What drives your passion for sport ❓ Our connection to the teams we grew up with is part of who we are. But sometimes, a new sport unexpectedly grabs us. I grew up in Rugby, Warwickshire, and Rugby was likely to be my foundation, but now I watch more baseball, especially the New York Mets, more than any other sport. Narratives and emotions can captivate you, which is why storytelling is so important. With sports' global reach today, fan bases are spread across markets. Understanding audiences is key for marketers, investors, sponsors, and content creators. Fan Intelligence is well-known, but market intelligence remains underserved. The two are distinct. Take Ilona Maher. Her rise wasn’t sudden; our team tracked her journey and noticed parity in her engagement with the biggest names in U.S. sports since last year. The ‘average fan’ became aware of Ilona when she led the USA to a bronze medal in Paris, but given she’s engaged with more people than Patrick Mahomes since last year, ‘average’ needs to be better understood to match and optimise player value with the right audience. The same grasp of segmentation can help surface underappreciated value. B) Can you share a memorable moment from your career ❓ It’s the humble gestures from athletes that stay with me. At the Rugby World Cup Awards in 2019, we were told to be professional in the media room. There were team fines and forfeits for gawping at the superstars walking past us. Siya Kolisi, just after lifting the trophy, came in and shook everyone’s hand. Similarly, following the 2016 T20 Cricket World Cup final, Sourav Ganguly tapped me on the shoulder and asked what I thought of the event. He could have asked anyone, Shane Warne was 10 yards away, but Sourav knows a good non-batting, non-bowling third man when he sees him! C) What advice would you give to young people aspiring to work in sport ❓ Be thoughtful and intentional in your work. Don’t rely solely on avid fandom and the status quo. Focus on adding meaningful value with purpose. Learn to build genuine relationships, not just through LinkedIn, they remain crucial for building your network and advancing your career. Being connected within the community is key for growth and staying informed about sport developments, like RugbyDAO 🙂 Web3 Sports Ventures

Humans of RugbyDAO: Wendy Young Welcome to this week’s “Humans of RugbyDAO", celebrating the passionate individuals who make up our vibrant community. Wendy Young is the founder and driving force behind Your Scrumhalf Connection (YSC), announcer for World Rugby, sports podcaster and a Major League Rugby commentator. YSC is a platform dedicated to covering women’s rugby across the globe. Established in 2006, the site has become a go-to resource for women's rugby news, match updates, jobs, and scholarships. Wendy is a passionate advocate for the growth and visibility of women's rugby, using YSC to bridge gaps in media coverage and offer insightful content that champions female athletes and elevates the sport globally. Q&A A) What drives your passion for rugby❓ My passion for sport and rugby in particular is driven by its ability to connect people and communities. Since discovering the sport in 2001, I've been deeply involved in various capacities, from playing and coaching to refereeing and commentating. Through Your Scrumhalf Connection (YSCRugby), which I launched in 2006, I've had the opportunity to share women's rugby news globally, covering major international competitions and domestic events from all corners of the world. This journey has shown me the power of rugby to inspire, unite, and drive positive change. B) Can you share a memorable moment from your career❓ A memorable moment from my rugby career was covering the 2014 Women Rugby World Cup in England as a journalist. Experiencing the event in person, after only watching previous RWCs on TV, was incredible. The matches were phenomenal, the crowds were bigger than ever, and the final was everything we had hoped for. Witnessing the growth from that breakthrough event to now has been amazing, and I can't wait to return to England for the 2025 RWC. C) What advice would you give to young people aspiring to work in rugby❓ For young people aspiring to work in #rugby or #sports, my advice is to stay passionate and dedicated. Embrace every opportunity to learn and grow, both on and off the field. Networking and building relationships within the community are crucial, as is staying informed about the latest developments in the sport. Most importantly, believe in your ability to make a difference and inspire others through your journey. Remember, your unique contributions can help shape the future of rugby and its community. #Rugbyunion #womensrugby Premier Rugby Sevens Web3 Sports Ventures
