"We understand there is a significant inequity in employment for our customer base: people with disabilities are more than twice as likely to be unemployed compared to those without disabilities." As we come to the end of October, National Disability Employment Awareness Month, this disparity serves as a call to action. Valuable 500 company, BraunAbility shared with us how their organisation is dedicated to closing this gap by creating pathways to employment through mentorship, paid internships, and partnerships with organisations that support disability inclusion. NDEAM reminds us of the urgency to break down barriers and ensure equal access to meaningful work for all. Read more about the work BraunAbility are doing to bridge this gap: https://lnkd.in/edUV9727 #NDEAM [Image description: The image features a group of five people interacting and smiling on a stage with a blue curtain background. Did you know? - 50% of disabled consumers face barriers accessing content and products. - Only 2% feel accurately portrayed in media and marketing. - There's an estimated $13 trillion annual disability spending power waiting to be tapped. We're collaborating with disability experts, leading marketing and advertising agencies, and global companies to develop the Authentic Representation Tool (ART) to transform disability inclusion in media and marketing. ART aims to bridge this critical gap and revolutionise how businesses approach disability representation. Developed with Kearney and global disability experts, this innovative tool will empower businesses to create truly inclusive content. We're currently piloting ART with select Valuable 500 Partners and Companies. Stay tuned for the official launch in 2025 – a game-changing moment for inclusive business practices is on the horizon! What can rollercoasters teach us about disability inclusion in business? In her latest Forbes article, our founder Caroline Casey draws a powerful analogy between conquering her fear of rollercoasters and business leaders overcoming fears about disability inclusion. Fear often looms larger than reality in both scenarios. But as Caroline says, "the best advice for businesses starting on this journey is simple: just start – get on with it." In my latest for Forbes, I share my thoughts on why so many business leaders hesitate when it comes to disability inclusion – fear of "getting it wrong." But what if that fear is holding us back from transformative change? From rollercoaster rides to boardroom decisions, I explore how confronting our anxieties can lead to real progress in creating inclusive workplaces. https://lnkd.in/e9bPxCQW #DisabilityInclusion #Leadership
